I have just removed the back boxes from my mk1 tuscan and now dont want to make it pointless by putting the cans back on with the baffles in. I have original carbon cans and im told its easy enough to do but exactly how i ask, remove which end of the can to allow the perforated tube to come out without damaging anything, car sounds amazing by the way for such a cheap mod, had tubes bent up by local exhaust place for 70 quid to replace boxes, had my mate round the other day in his spanking ferrari and made it sound pathetic, thanks in advance!!!!

Sounds interesting! I bet it makes a hell of a bark You say "original carbon" cans - do you just mean standard TVR cans or the after market Carbon Can Company ones? If it's the former then you can sleeve them apparently by buying the right OD tubing (there's been a few threads on here about the details, can't recall offhand). If they are CCC's then they are already good

I think NTEL was looking at removing the end boxes, do you have any pics of the new exhaust set-up or any sound clips maybe?

They are the standard TVR cans, if I can get the baffle out i can weld in new stainless tube as i work with it daily, thats the easy bit, i suppose stripping it down shouldnt be too hard but im good at smashing things to pieces! New cans were an option until i priced them up, have built the car from salvage so every penny saved helps ready for the big paint job!

will try and post some pics soon, its straight forward tho, if you cut a few inches back from the rear boxes you can take it to an exhaust place to jig off, then just stick your cans back on and there you have it, a window smashing fire breathing monster!

I don't think you need to take any baffle out, I think you just get the right size pipe and hammer (mallet/block) it in.

Awsome work building the car from salvage, one hell of a project to get your teeth into!

I love reading blogs on projects like this (Maybe Im a bit sad) dont suppose you have on?

Pictures of progress would be cool too! (like you dont have enough to do anyway!)

As the others have said "sleeving" is just jamming the right outside diameter bit of stainless tube down the original can!

Which is essentially all the aftermarket cans are anyway (maybe a slightly larger diameter bore on the "Carbon Can Company" cans I have.

It will sound amazing, and will be great fun for scaring the natives! But beware its a pretty mind numbing drone if you do any motorway miles. for me personally it gets a bit much for 100mile + journeys.

Not got round to doing this yet because there are a couple of backpressure issues to consider. The tail pipe spigot that sticks out and on to which the can fits, extends into the corner can about 2" inches. This creates an arduous route for the exhaust gasses hence creating back pressure. When I take out the corner can, I'll be incorporating a small silencer / baffle to maintain the back pressure in the system.

Just replacing the corner can with pipe maybe OK for catted cars, but could be a bit dodgy for decat cars. All theory at this stage, but still needs to be considered.
