It may not be the bulb that has gone, on my car the bulb holder had come loose so the bulb was nicely lighting up the inside of the wing!
Take the bonnet off (4 nuts towards the front and 2 catches up by the screen) then undo the screws holding the inspection panel on to the inner wing, then have a fiddle around inside the wing to get to the buld holder - if you have the same problem as me then turning on the lights will quickly show you where the bulb and holder are hanging then you can refit them - it is a simple twist fit in to the bodywork
Than, in true Haynes stylee, refitting is a simple reverse of the above

Many thanks to all - I managed to refit the bulb. I had checked the fuse beforehand and it was OK. Got the wife to give me a hand with the bonnet. The only thing that was fiddly was getting the bulb in and out of the clipped holder without touching the bulb itself.
