The top of my dash/steering column cover has come away from the LCD surround and the bottom of the cover. Is this a common problem and if so how do I reattach it?

Thanks

Hey yea mine has done the same i also put a post up about the same thing every one said sort of the same thing that it was a common problem and that it cannot really be fixed once it has come away or you can but with difficulty

Glue the cardboard / leather section to the aluminum surround with Evostick contact adhesive. Strong enough to hold it in place, but easy to separate if the pod ever needs to be dismantled.

This was my next 'doing up my interior' mission.

My metal pod bits and my fake leather bits don't line up neatly - is this what you mean?

I was going to take it all apart and hopefully when putting it back together there would have been enough play to get them to line up.

Are you saying that I cannot do this?

I would consider (but rather not) using a 'backing plate' to hold the leather bit and pod together neatly....

Yes it's as you say Da Murphster, it's all misaligned and looks rubbish! I found 3 tiny screws embedded in the carpet which I assume were originally holding the dash in place?

Looks impossible to get to it and screw it back together so I think I might try what Pete suggests and give it a go with evostick. Failing that I know a guy who does boat and car interior trim and might see what he suggests

I'll keep you posted

The screw holes which held the two parts of my pod together were positioned such that the top would never neatly mate up with the aluminum fascia. I ended up re-drilling the holes, which improved things a bit, but even then I had to use Evostick to hold it all securely.

My dash pod has got a very attractive strip of sellotape holding the pod and alu surround together.
I think I should go for the evostic "upgrade".
May stop some of the sarcastic comments from my German colleagues. biggrin

Just attempted the evostick approach with very limited success I'm afraid. I can only really stick one side or the other, not both. And I expect the moment I go over the slightest bump it'll come loose again

I think the only real solution is to take the whole unit out and screw it together, a job for the winter me thinks. For now I might go for the sellotape solution or maybe duct tape. Unfortunately I'm revealing my new pride & joy on Saturday to a couple mates who have 911's, no doubt TVR build quality will be brought into question as result!
