All, I recently managed to get the Speed 6 diagnostic software running and whilst referencing the diagnostic literature I've managed to navigate my way round the package.
In a previous thread I mentioned my Tuscans tick-over drops off over time and was hoping to find a function in the software that allowed me to adjust it back to it's original level but unfortunately it doesn't seem as simple as that. There is the facility to reset the throttle bodies but they are already at the the stated 15% open at tick-over. Anybody know how to raise the tick-over using the software please!?
Maybe related to the tick-over issue, but I've noticed the AFR on cylinders 123 has reached it's limit at 20%, and having unsuccessfully searched for the reason does anybody know what resetting the AFR will do if you haven't actually found an engine problem?
On a general note I don't know how I've survived all this time without the software; it's put my mind at rest a few times, makes DIY fault diagnosis and rectification much easier, reduces the likelyhood of a service centre screwing you over, and has saved me a few penny's already! What do other software users think to it? Is there any pitfalls I should know about?
Cheers

I'm not able to help much but I was under the impression you could adjust the tickover manually without the need for software.

I seem to remember someone posting that their was a screw or something beside the the throttle pots that could adjust tickover.

Ive never used the software so cant help with it.

Thanks anyhow. Not sure about this 'screw' but was always told to shy away from touching anything on the actual pots themselves. Anybody any gen on this 'screw'?

I adjusted the screw a miniscual and the tickover changed quite a bit, I then reset the addaptives and have had no problems.
If the AFR is showing a fault, don't you need to balance all the throttle bodies up and then reset them on the software?

Have just posted this on one of the other tuscan forum. I have an older tuscan but from has been explained to me is that your idle over time will gradually drop. You there have to manualy set it on the throttle rail. After this you then have to get a Syncrometer (from demon tweeks) and then set up each air trumpet manually by the allen key screw on the left hand side of each trumpet. At this point you need the software to reset the ECU. The computer software only resets the ECU but you have to manually reset all you air trumpets or the mix is wrong.
reseting the adadptives will only last for the short time until it falls back the to "bad" setting that it has.
I have also been recommend that you reset the cylinders in a certain way but the experts will tell u this as well

Hi !

Here you can see how i am doing when i am setting up my SP6 engine. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

The idle must be set on the little allen screw that is on the throttle arm that is connected to the gaswire. It is throttle no3 from the front of the engine.

I got Mine working with and old laptop with a com port and win 98, on my car mark 1 could not find the cable any ware turns out had to remove the blue MBE unit that was under the drivers side footwell above the brake fluid, then removed it inside 9 way d type plug so hard wired a cable into box with a one meter lead so if i need to get to it again will be easy had to put some sealer over the d type plug so did not short out the on lid as not much room
