Tuscan S Cuts out on hot day ???
Discussion
Hi - Took my 2002 Tuscan S out for a drive on saturday when the weather was glorious, drove upto a garden centre around 5 mile away got in a bit of traffic on the way and the engine was up round the 93/94 degree mark. parked car and returned about 20 mins later, car started fine but as soon as I took my foot of the accelerator it would drop its revs and cut out - it did this 3 times in a row ! I then drove the car across the car park but again as soon as I lifted my right foot to apply the brakes the engine droped it revs and cut out!! It happend a couple more times and then suddenley was idleing at 700 rpm no probs ?? just wondered if anyone else has had this problem - it has happened to me before and everytime it has been a very hot day and the engine temp has been up round the 90's
I read that it could be something to do with the throttle return if that means anything to anyone ??
Any help greatly appreciated, Cheers

I have the same problem with my Tuscan S, i.e. hot day , higher running temperatures stop for around 20 minutes and tick over the first few minutes after start up is 200-300 RPM lower than before, but gradually recovers.I have had this checked out, but nothing could be found although it was suggested that it could be fuel evaporation. I have the idle speed set at 1000 RPM so it does not stall if this occurs.
Hi, I had a lot of problems with my 07 Tuscan S mk2 engine. X Works swapped out the ECU chip with a different one a completely different map. Since then my engine purrs. The chip and map were for the Sagaris. I'm told they developed the chip and mapped only for the Sagaris but that it can be used in the Tuscan as it's obviously the same engine.

700 is rather low, the details on the software says the hot idle should be set to 950rpm
Really? Mine always idles very happily at 700rpm even when hot.Paul V said:

Mine sits at 700 quite happily with the air con running, and oil pressure stays approx 16-19psi too. Then again, it is newly rebuilt so this may change over time.ehasler said:

mine makes a difference when you hear the pump cutting in and out.
Have to get the Tuscan's side by side and see how they vary
