Jump Starting my Tuscan
Discussion
Hi all, having being a fairly new Tuscan owner the obvious is going to happen at some stage, I'll leave the lights on or the radio or something silly.
So my question is, how if the battery is dead do i jump start it ie: where is the battery and how do i get to it and is it a standard black and red clips to attach to another car etc. I have the trickle charge connector hanging from underneath the passenger side by the front wheel so i take it its around there somewhere.
Thankyou
John

Battery is behind a cover at the passengers front wheel, between door and wheel. you will have to take the front wheel of to get access.
As the previous post said there is an anderson connector under the car directly below the battery. You can buy a special lead that will allow you to connect from anderson connection to another car battery for charging.

I found my Tuscan battery flat on two occasions. I used the following technique.
1. Find battery dead.
2. Scratch head and swear a bit.
3. Call the RAC.
It was the RAC man who pointed out the Anderson connector. If I know I'm not going to be driving the car for more than a few days I just plug the trickle charger in.

Only one point to remember ...is don't leave the Anderson connector in the car...'cos you won't be able to open the doors without power....Unless you know the emergency entry procedure.
I always leave a window open in the garage and I don't alarm it.

I had a flat battery a few months back and had the AA out.
The AA guy tried jumping it through the Anderson connector but couldn't. We then had the front wheel off and attached the jump leads directly to the battery which worked.
He reckoned that the leads connecting the Anderson connector to the battery weren't sufficent to carry the load when trying to jump a completely flat battery (but might be ok in other situations).

Left my lights on a fortnight ago, couldn't get into the car and still don't know the emergency entry procedure. Luckily the garage I bought the car from has the Anderson jump leads. Quick call to my Dad and he brought them up. The connector didn't work first time, pushed it in a bit harder and all was good and car started fine.
I'll know not to leave the lights on again though, lol!

In event of flat battery at home can run charger via Anderson conector. Most home chargers have small crocodile clips and will fit.
Remove cover from underside conector, oblong black cover. Make sure contacts not green (normaly are) clean, and jizz some WD 40 in.
Contact nearest to wheel is positive ( + ), conect to charger, and boost battery.
This is a quick fix and will save you having to remove wheel and cover to access battery, DONT LEAVE CAR UNATTENDED for long periods with this method. It will allow access to car quicker than other methods . . . !
