What Exhausts have I got??

Hi all,

Can someone help me?

I am not sure what exhausts I currently have and would like to know if the ones I have are any good or are there better ones out there for sound/performance etc! I dont have any pics but the ones that are currently on my car look like they have a Carbon fibre body to them with a rounded chromed end to them (hope this helps!). I have heard about Ccc (not sure what they are) but they sound like there a good exhaust?
If someone could post pics then I could confirm if they are my exhausts for you.

My second question is I am not sure if my car has cats or not, how do I find that out, is that something I can look for under the car?, again pics of what they look like would be great as Im not a mechanic/engineer of any description!!!! Does having cats increase or de crease power and does having them make the car sound better???

Sorry for the stupidness however I love the cars but I dont know anything about them.

They sound like Carbon Can Company , they appear to be upgrading their website but there were photos there before.

they sound like standard cans, look inside them and if you see perforations in the tube they are standard. Not many people have carbon fibre look CCC's, most go for stainless or coloured.

I agree with Whitey - I've got carbon fibre CCCs and they also have a red 'Carbon Can Company' logo badge on them. Actually, the annoying thing about them is that the carbon fibre part keeps turning around so the logo ends up facing everywhere but where it should!

If it's de-catted it'd be very loud... does it leave you a bit deaf after driving?!

They sound just like mine and as far as I am aware mine are standard (except they are sleeved and sound awesome !)

Ok, I have just took a picture and these are what they look like!


So are these Ccc's then! and I have also looked inside them and they are not perforated they are solid all the way through, does this mean they are sleeved and is there any way of making them louder!

They look like standard cans but sounds like they've probably been sleeved. The CCC ones have a more rounded chrome end cap.

ETA - here's a pic of mine. Not great coz it was far away and they're filthy, but that's what the CCC ones look like:

Thanks for your reply, they do look similar however i do not have the red logo anywhere could this mean that I have a copy perhaps?, also you say they could be sleeved, how can i unsleeve them, can i do this myself? when I put fingers inside there are noe holes perforations etc!

John they sound like they are standard cans which have been sleeved, they will be the same sound as the CCC's as effectively that's all they do to theirs.

On the standard can you won't feel the perforated bit with your finger and the holes start a fair way down but you should be able to see them if you look with a torch.

If I "De sleeve" them does this make it louder and more performance? and can I do this on my existing exhausts myself?

If you have sleeved cans then somebody has hammered a piece of 51mm OD tube down the bores. If you remove this the car will become quieter and you will have standard cans. If you want to go louder then you have a couple of options:

1. Fit CCC's which are straight through and unisulated. (sound a bit tinny to me though)
2. De-cat and really scare young children and old ladies. (I can help with the Decat Pipes)
3. De-cat and fit another make of tuscan cans that sound the dogs bo**ox (I can help there too)
4. Fit big bore Tuscan Cans (I might be able to help there too)

My understanding is than (certainly on Tuscan Mk2s) The Carbon Can Company are the standard factory fitted cans and are all carbon effect finish.

Ironically most carbon cans don't have a carbon finish and are normally plain stainless, this this is due to the cost.

Below you can see CCCs with carbon finish. As you can see the end of the pipe is more rounded. The exhaust in your photo looks definitely like a standard one. Nothing wrong with those though!



CCCs are also slightly thicker. About sleeving: if you look inside a standard exhaust you will see that the cans are hollow; with sleeved ones you will see a pipe within the can.

I have been told that there is no difference in performance, but I do think that they sound rather lovely. But that's all a matter of personal taste! Mind you, I'm not getting much chance to enjoy the stereo upgrade I got done last year!

OOPS -- Edited to correct about sleeving: I believe that it is also possible to get non-sleeved (and therefore quieter) CCCs. As far as I know they look the same as sleeved ones. See this link (bottom of the screen).

Thanks for clearing that up for me Dave, I know you're the pipe man.

I've now found the Blue Blue Flame site... http://www.blueflameperformance.com/car/exhausts/o... , clears up why I thought they were made in Skem.

Are the Carbon Can Company still in Fleetwood ???
