weeping my Tuscan is dead

My day started off great. Sun shinning, Tiv washed and waxed on Saturday ready for Le Mans. So I thought I'd take him out for a run. I don't know why but I left the roof on and that may have helped me in the impact despite it popping out.

So I was on the M3. All was fine. I was sat patiently behind 2 x Vectra in the outside lane for about 2 0r 3 minutes, about 4 or 5 car lengths back.

They both signalled and pulled into the middle lane. As I accelerated past the first one it decided to move back into the outside lane, unfortunatley I was level with him by now.

I swerved, 2 off side wheels went into the gravel. I struggled and got it back on the road but the back end let go and I crossed all 3 lanes backwards, luckily I didn't collect anyone else on the way. I hit the curb and flew about 20 ft hitting a tree before coming to rest just off the hard shoulder. The passenger side and rear took the impact, thankfully I was on my own. The other driver didn't stop furious . Luckily the police think they've located him/her.

I can only thank whomever is watching over me angel that I got out of this one, let alone walked away with minor cuts and bruises

If you're squeemish don't look at these pics of my P&J, you might not like what you see.

Looks like I might still be going to Le Mans, only I'll be in my X5

It's insured for a guaranteed value so I should be OK. I've already been looking and there's a couple up for sale on here that I'm tempted by. I thought about buying one today so I could take it to Le Mans but I resisted.

I think I'm over the initial shock and thanking my lucky stars. Now I'm totally devastated about my P&J and gutted my Le Mans trip has been ruined, just hope Speedferries will let me change my booking to a 4x4

Nice pictures Stirling!

Is that the fuel tank on the bonnet, the box with the big puncture in it? good job you didn't light a ciggie to calm your nerves afterwards.

You are one lucky boy.

Get in that big ol' X5 and get your backside down to Dover on Thursday.

Good to hear that you're ok mate. those pictures are shocking.

I'll buy you a beer or 2 on Thursday night and you can tell us the whole story.

Waaahey! Nobby Diesel! I knew you'd be sniffing around here. Yeah the pics bring it home how lucky I was. I'm still very stiff but got back in the saddle today when I went to see him and take the pics.

I'm feeling more confident that I'll be at Clackett Lane at 5am on Thurs, what else will I do this weekend? just promise me you'll help me put my tent up, I've got 1 hand like a boxing glove and the other forearm like Popeye! (or Truck Hastings with his baguettes!) Oh and you will take me out for a spin while we're down there won't you? Maybe a quick blast down the Mulsanne on the Friday morning?

Yeah it is the fuel tank. Funnily enough one of the people who stopped to help was rolling a ciggie on the hard shoulder and I nearly considered starting smoking again smokin ! Thankfully one of the other kind souls who stopped ushered him away to smoke his fag.

Oh and I'd just filled up with 46 ltrs of Shell V-Power as well, bummer!

Will do. The search begins in earnest when I get back from Le Mans

Looking to spend around £18K, maybe stretch as far as £20K for the right one. Must have a TVR Power rebuild after 2005 and be in very good condition - preferred colour reflex charcoal or any dark colour - sorry for those who have them but I don't like silver or light blue. Nice to have would be CCC's and upgraded shocks. IF you think you have one that might tempt me let me know

Christ that's awful, you are a very fortunate man top get out of that one, Im really sorry about the car what a mess. It does give me re some reassurance that the core of the car has maintained its integrity (all that about TVR's not been safe is absolute rubbish)I can see how you survived.........

Good luck with finding a new one (man Im still shaking form the pictures)

That should be enough reason for the authorities to take his license and feed it to the paper scrapper... I'm sure though he'll get off with a slap on the wrist as he wasn't speeding.

We all make mistakes, but not at least acknowledging a fk-up of these proportions that easily could have sent someone into an early grave is criminal. furious

I do hope the culprit doesn't get back on the road without some form of re-assessment.

Wow, glad you're okay and keen to jump back into another Tuscan! Good man.

Interesting to see how the fibreglass has dissipated what was clearly a LOT of energy when you went into the armco backwards.

Cheers,

FT.

Trouble with TVR,s and alike, other road users in normal cars don't appreciate the closing speeds. They look in there mirror see you at a distance then before they know it your up the side of them.

I guess your lucky to tell the tale.

Blimey Stu. Those pictures make me feel queasy - you're a lucky chap. Hope they prosecute that Vectra for leaving the scene at the very least.

Right - I'll start looking for that Reflex Charcoal replacement. If you need that beer give me a shout..

Oh man... Sorry to hear about this but glad you're ok!

Looks like it took some serious impact and to get out in one piece I guess shows how well the Tuscan stands up to punishment. Hope to see pics of your new one soon!
