Boot solenoid

Does anyone know if the boot solenoid has its own fuse? I can't see an allocated fuse on my MKI fuse layout diagram and the solenoid has just stopped working this evening. I've gone and left my multi-meter in the boot too....doh

It's on the fog 12V/radio/boot lamp (or something like that) fuse.

Had to replace mine yesterday.

Cheers Dave, it's not the fuse then as I had to get the boot open earlier the secret way (to put some petrol in....) and the light works just fine, as does the radio. I need to check the wiring tomorrow I reckon,

Andy if you're having a problem with the boot not opening try opening the passenger door from inside, this can sometimes reset the ecu which also operates the boot. HTH.

Thanks John, tried that - no joy. I'll get the meter out today and try to see what's happening. I reckon either the solenoid has gone kaput or their isn't any voltage getting to the coil.

I adjusted the allen type bolts on the boot catch, and suddenly it began working again.

All working again now, thankfully. Checked the switch - fine. Checked the voltage to the solenoid - fine. Fiddled with and cleaned various 2-pin connectors inside the bodywork - all fine. The solenoid is a bit tricky to get to actually and I didn't want to go ripping carpet up etc so I just had to feel my way round it blind. Sprayed a little WD40 in there and it fired up again. It was a little stiff sounding though so let it cycle for a few minutes to loosen it up and it appears to be ok now.

One of those things I guess.....
