May sound a daft question, but I've only just realised I've been driving for two years with no front side lights. The rear lights come on, but nothing appears at the front. If I switch to the headlight position the top set of lights come on OK and if I put mainbeam on , on the stalk the lower gas discharge lights come on. It would appear the upper lights have only a single filament, have the wrong ones been fitted from new??? I've checked the fuses 40 & 41 which appear to be incorrectly documented...40 is switch & number plate illumination and 41 is for the rear lights...I also have a Fuse 21 7.5 amps (Front Foglamps), but NO fog lamps....Anyone got any idea's or can anyone shed any light on the subject. Thanks

After consulting with PDTvr who has a Mk2 Targa, I know the answer...YES....Only it appears my Convertible DOESN'T. TVR strikes again...It appears mine have never been fitted....Now is that covered by my non-existant warranty....

the side lights for the front should be in the main beam assembly, have a look see if they are there, they might have blown or just not connected up as in true tvr fashion, this should have been found when you had your car serviced,or your service people are not carring out a proper service?????????

They're just not there, no bulb holder nothing , just a hole in the bottom reflector where they should be...suprised the person who PDI it at the factory didn't pick it up (I must have a word with him!!!), must say it's taken me 2 years to spot...I am sure X-Works will sort it for me....Agreed should have been picked up the 3 services the cars had, but no MOT required yet. Trouble is I always reverse into my garage so never see sidelights.

Not if you haven't got them ...They're what people sometimes call "Parking Lights", they are front and rear lights...suppose calling them "side" is confusing. The small lights that come on before your headlights, rear lights come on when side lights switched on...Fronts located in the lower light postion, the bulb is under your main beam bulb, so you should have two bulbs in the lower light cluster.
Mani, you may be interested that Phil Tudhope is producing a Tuscan Convertible Handbook mainly covering the Console display at the moment, if you have any input/information from your factory days (I understood you started producing the handbook) I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Go on the TVRCC Website Tuscan forum for a copy.

The mystery is solved....The sidelights were lying in the front wings with bulbs working, it appears TVR must have run out of the proper plastic bulb holders and used the old Griff/Chim metal ones, which don't fit the holes in the reflectors properly. So at some time in the last 2 years they have fallen out and have sat merilly rusting in the wings. Temp fix at the moment with the best fitting plastic one available and insulation tape to make them hold tight...need to try and locate the correct size bulb holder , in the meanwhile , I've now got working lights. biggrin

So I'd advise anyone with a 2006 Tuscan to check theirs, because I doubt that mine was the only car done like this.

I'd have thought that was an MOT fail confused ?

Cheers,

It would have had, but it's not 3 years old yet , so no MOT required.

Good advice Keith on reading this topic yesterday I checked my parking/sidelights and they worked ok although just had a closer look at the holders and they are also metal and the near side one is sitting a bit lower than the other,as though it's not fitted in correctly,I will have a closer look next time I have the service bonnet off.
