Alan Key Screws?

Finally took the drivers side door panel off yesterday following the purchase of a flexible alan key from Halfords £9.99 (great advice to get one which I read on here somewhere)

The drivers side window needed re-seating which I have done but my problem is now the window doesn't seem to butt up as tight to the rubber now, so will need to re adjust again.

When playing about with all of this I noticed I was missing a alan key screw in the bottom of the door card and that a couple that clamp onto the window inside the door had sheared slightly so wanted to replace.

Any idea where I can order a few of these from?

I don't know about sourcing screws but a) when I went to Halfords to buy a flexible allen key driver they looked blankly at me and b) when I had done exactly the same as you and reseated my window it to did not fully meet at the top and I though b*llocks, as I hadn't got time to take it all apart again.

Since then it seems to have worked out for itself that there was a bit more to do and now sits perfectly !

I did try to find you an example on the Halfords website but its not the easiest of sites to search on.

The pack I have could be described as a flexible screwdriver with a socket end that will fit a variety of different heads like allen keys, posi drive, flats, star shaped etc

The shaft of the driver is what is flexible thus allowing you to put it in really hard to reach places (like the inside of the door pocket) to unscrew a just about anything small, awkward and hand tight.

A really useful tool. I will look at the product code tonight and hopefully this will bring up a picture on their website.

It was me that talked about flexi allen key drivers in another post.

Basically I got a driver from Halfords which has a flexible shaft and at the end you can insert any number driver heads including allen keys which were supplied with the one I got (I think).

Which allen key bolts do you unscrew to take the door card off, just the ones in the door pocket?

I noticed that there are other bolts around the side of the door where the lock is .

You can try screwfix.com for "cap head" bolts

Its the flexible attachment that is the useful bit. For a tenner well worth getting.

Actually it is what's called a Genericised Trademark. 'Allen' in this context is no longer trademarked, but is still capitalized because it is named after a company.

You can't beat out pedanting pedants.

Yeah Sorry.

I had to put that cause I once had a discussion with a designer, who'd named an allen head screw a "Internal Hex Socket Screw - M5" on a drawing, and I had no idea what he meant. "Oh - you mean an allen bolt ? why did you not say ?"
