Hi all, Sent a sample of carpet to the guys at Leather Magic uk. They have matched the colour and for £95 will send me a kit which will include 1ltr of dye. Will this be enough to do the interior or my Tuscan?

Depends on the colour. I dyed the carpets on both my Chimaeras and used a little over a litre (black) on each.

I would be interested to know how your carpets turned out after dying. What colour were they before? I'm thinking of dying my grey ones black.

They are a light green colour but have faded quite bad in places. I’m going to dye back to the original. Not placed my order yet but I’ll try and do before and after pics once completed.

Eh? I got a kit from them for £17.99 + vat.
I re-did all the faded dark blue carpets in mine- probably want to freshen up other trim and and mats now too, but will need another bottle and have plenty left - £95????

Hmm.. I think I need to speak to them again then. They said the kit will cost me £95. Not sure what else is included apart from the 1ltr of dye. How easy is it apply?

Hang on, I'm having a senior moment. I swopped the first set of carpets for new ones, didn't dye them at all. Arse. I did dye the second set though, dark blue to black. Well, when I say dark blue I mean originally-dark-blue-but-faded-to-light-blue-in-places. Needed two coats in some places but came out ok. I started a thread and posted pics in either the general TVR or Chimaera forum and just tried searching for it but no hits.

How easy is it? Very. I used a piece of sponge and dabbed it on. You just need to be patient, careful and have a damp cloth in your other hand to wipe off the inevitable accidents immediately. Oh, and I think I paid about £15 a litre off eBay.

I got mine from leather magic too - they knew the TVR navy blue colour I wanted but I sent them a carpet cutting anyway.
Dye is a perfect match and they send basic kit with it - brush/gloves.
I found having a smaller brush was ncessary to get the fiddly bits, but it's easy enough to do - just mask as much as possible and wipe off excess asap!
Like I said, results are great though the £17.99 kit probably not enough to do everything, especially if doing more than one application...

Am I missing something here...

Earlier this year I had my carpets replaced (to full TVR spec) in the dark blue. This cost me £70 from Gibsons in Harrogate (old fashoined car trimmers, had a number of TVR fabrics in stock). They are listed in the Sprint reccomended re-trimmers.

Did a fantastic job and very very knowledgable about TVR trims and colours , a pleasure to do business with too.

That's an incredible price! I had a Chim done a few years back at a cost 8 times yours. Need to get the Tuscan done at some point and still getting similar prices quoted, admitedly they did a fantastic job but I doubt it was 8 times better than yours!

That is incredible pricing; I thought I got a deal @ £425 from A&R Pound (plus £200 for the Tuscan dash area) for a complete recarpet of my Tuscan 2 months ago. £70 seems too good to be true as this has to be 3+ days work and then also includes the carpet? Amazing price.

Daston,
Think you will find difficult if not impossible to go from dark colour to light. colour pigment of dye in carpet will be stronger than whats being applied and will be the dominant colour. The reason for dying carpets being down to sun bleaching, if all the dark navy in your carpet has been sun bleached then you would have a chance of appling lighter colour but still un-likley.

Just looked at the thread again; just to clarify the £70 was for the carpets (mats) in the footwell not a full carpet re-trim. From memory this would work out about £300 to £350 sorry if I mis led anyone.

They still did a great job though, they used to do the work for Harrogate HC so they do know TVR's

Ok I have now got to the bottom of my £95 quote. There are two companies called leather magic. One is leather magic UK and the other leather magic Europe. I spoke to magic UK explaining to them about the £17.99 people have been paying and was told it was probable through magic Europe. I have just checked there internet sight and sure enough £17.99. So I will be sending them a carpet sample to mach. Anybody else wanting to do this there address is. www.leathermagiceurope.co.uk

Don't know how many variations there are, but the bottle I got from them was just labelled 'TVR Blue' - it was navy and a perfect match...

Hi all, i can supply you with carpet dye kits for £16.50 inc delivery.

The kit will make up 1 gallon of dye solution which will cover approx 6 square meters of carpet.

Please let me know if you need any advice or colour options.

Thanks,

Mark
