Hi guys,

I'm a few days out of date, I know, but I've just been reading the thread on the new Sagaris (which looks great). There appears to be mention of a new Tuscan 2 to follow shortly, which would be fantastic! I reckon if TVR really do get their act together on this one, and if they start selling new cars (with warranties?!), then this is going to have a positive affect on the residual values on our "old" Tuscan 2s.

Any thoughts?

Or am I just being optimistic given the only way appears to be further down in this economic climate...

I think our values are more likely to increase because of rarity and personally I wouldn't count on a restart in production. I think the main issue affecting residual value , in the longterm , will be the availability Speed 6 components, if there's no restart in use of the Speed 6. Although everyone seems to get around problems with AJP8s and there are far few cars using them.

Restarting production on the tuscan will depend heavily on the Sagaris 2's success, which is far from assured. Hopefully it does mean improvements and better component availability if the Speed Six is continuing. But lets see what the Sagaris 2 does to Sagaris residuals. For some reason they are really strong at the moment but surely more buyers will prefer a new Sag at £50k than an used, older spec car at £40k so I expect them to drop.

Sadly for us there doesn't seem to be the same strong demand for the tuscan 2 and our prices are quite a bit below what an equivalent spec and mileage Sagaris is fetching right now. The tuscan is wrongly percieved as an older car I guess. Personally I think it would be better for us if they don't remake the Tuscan.

I was told by one of the "TVR (mis)management team", last week, that only rag top Tuscans would be made in the future. IF this happens, and I'm not holding my breath, I would have thought that residual values for Targa topped Tuscan 2s would improve. I only know a hand full of people who like the shape of the rag top roof and I certainly don't (sorry Keith smile ) therefore wouldn't have one. So as I'm not over keen on Sags either, I guess there is nothing for me to buy in the future.

The roof is only for keeping water out of the car, since I don't often take it out in the rain, it's usually off away...biggrin

Don't ge me wrong Keith, I think the vert looks great with the roof down, but I drive mine in hail, rain, wind, sleet, snow, and sun shine and it looks great all the time biggrin

I know what you mean....I borrowed the factory Targa two years ago and went to Southport & Ainsdale for the golf, I had to empty the car when I got home and change all my clothes, I was drenched. The rubber filler in the gap between the targa panel and the 'A' frame was missing. Actually the convertible doesn't let a drop of water into the car. Only problem is having the window open, it drips of the roof/A frame inside the car...a bit of a pain.

my targa has never been anything but bone dry with the roof in place.

Ditto. I'm also with Dave on the 'Vert roof profile. It's a complete abortion as far as I'm concerned and was the reason I went for the Targa. I agree the 'Vert looks better than the Targa with the roof down and if it had been a flat profile like the Tamora, I would have gone for it. Those roll-over hoops are all a bit gay, too, and detract from the aesthetic appeal somewhat. There, that vitriolic outburst should have wound my mate Keith up evil
