Pioneer Avic X3 sat nav installation

Has anyone installed an Avic X3 sat nav into a Tuscan II?
Any problems/difficulties/tips?

I've got an AVIC X1 fitted to my Tuscan 2. It fit's in the dash but needed an extention to the slot as it stands a little proud. All the plug in bits (satalite reciever etc) are under the centre console behind the handbrake.

I've got one in mine as well. Like Stephen says, all the gubbins fit nicely under the central consol. I've even got the optional tv unit plumbed in, and a lead for plugging in my ipod and dab radio

One thing which annoys me with the AVIC X1 is I can’t play a CD while using DVD navigation, I’m not sure if fitting a CD changer in the boot would help with that.

I've got a changer in the boot and can listen to CDs whilst using the Sat Nav!

You might be better getting the ipod adapter for it? I had the X1 and ipod adapter
when I had the Tuscan and it worked very well, you have a huge choice of songs compared
with a 6 cd autochanger. Just got a new Apline deck for the truck and it doesn't even have
a slot for a cd just USB and an iPhone/iPod connector.

I don't have an Ipod!!!

Well buy one then! An 80GB ipod classic will hold 20,000 songs, which is roughly 19,950 more than a 6cd multiplayer. And it costs £140 and is brilliant. I had CD multis in both my Tuscans but the Sag had the Avics with ipod adaptor so I junked the cd changer and just use the ipod. Much better solution as I never have to worry about changing cd's etc as pretty much my whole music collection is there to choose from. You can also do playlists etc.. which are great for a long journey. I did a 200 song playlist for the LM classic last week and my brother and I roared down to Le Sarthe on a diet of 60's to 80's rock.

Thank you for the help / info - the local Mercedes Garage in Den Helder installed the units and have done a great job, all under the central console as advised: what a good piece of gear - and IPod belting out God is a DJ from Faithless already!!

I bought a Car Stereo with a USB port/cable, I just copy my MP3 files from my PC to to a USB 8GB Flash drive which sits in the dash, I've got 100 Albums in 8GB not need for an iPOD. When 128MB Flash drives are available even more storeage, once the Chinese stops selling zapped 1GB drives as 128GB.
