whoops, lost the rear screen!
Discussion
Thankfully it didnt hit anyone behind me,
Dont fancy my chances of recovering it though, stuck in the central reservation of a dual carriage way!
It was an "oversized" screen too! Didnt think that was supposed to happen? I have the old normal screen I can shove in for now though.
Where should I be ordering a new "big one" from?
Thanks
Dave

In answer to your question unfortunately yes it can happen, travelling at about 80 one night and opened drivers window about 2 inches, roof on,sudden whooshing noise and lots of wind in from the rear. Both clips were still locked but the sreen had slid down and disengaged from the top, luckily the screen landed in a field in one piece and was recovered the next morning, passing drivers on A142 must have wondered what the mad man was doing wandering along a field, all but one mark polished out.Have since glued small pices of plastic to clips to try to stop screen sliding down but am still uneasy when driving with windows down and roof on.This was with the larger shaped screen by the way.
Am following Sciob progress with redisgned clips with interest.

Hi, I've not lost my rear screen, but in pursuit of a solution to some squeaks and rattles, I may have found a simple solution to the screen dropping down.
I have a quarter inch thick hard rubber strip - about 1cm wide and 4 cm long..folded in half and pushed in at centre bottom of the screen...between bottom of screen and body (just underneath boot seal). Screen can't drop down.
Hope that helps!

I guess this tends to happen with the roof off?
You'd have to be loopy to drive with the roof off & the screen in!You guessed it, got back in and had driven a good 10 miles before I remembered the rear window was only held in by the boot lid.

Slowed down sharpishly till I got to the next stop.I don't know how practical it would be, but if there were a couple of holes drilled in the bottom of the screen and "lugs" within the jaws of the clips which went through the holes, would this provide enough support to stop it falling down and then slipping out ?
It would solve the problem of getting the bloody thing lined up when you putting it back in as well !
This idea is available free in exchange for a free sample of the successful design !

You'd have to be loopy to drive with the roof off & the screen in!I also recently lost the rear screen with the roof on and both windows up at 140 - it just exploded with a loud bang and was last seen heading towards Mars!!
120 in Italy yesterday with both windows down and rear window stayed in place, does this count?
Important to get the screen pushed right up as far as it will go. And if the clips close and lock easily the screen is in correctly. I think it sometimes comes out because of bad location and then when it flexes with wind pressure it may well be popping out from the top edge not the bottom. IMO!
