The fuel line from the tank to the pump (approx 300mm) is well known to perish and potentialy leak. Have a look at the rear under the number plate, pump is on the LHS with the line weaving up to the centre of the tank.
I´ve just had this replaced on mine during a service and it seems to have cured the petrol fumes I was getting inside the car. Def worth a look.andyvdg said:
The carbon petrol filter is located in the front offside wing underneath the headlamps. I used to get an occasional smell on a hot day with the Mk1 - not with the Mk2 though.
That sounds like a possible culprit any pic's on where it's located? Is it in access hatch or on the outside in the engine bay?hi, mine used to smell badly on warm days when i first bought it. i told them about it when i took it up to the factory. it was a breather pipe just infront of the front wheel which was pused up into the body out of sight. if you just pull it down below the body it will cure it. as long as thats the problem of course. i had to do it twice on mine as the idiots who serviced it once at a main dealer in wigan pused it back up. next hot day guess what, inside of the car stank like a forecourt again.
