Nelly1 vs Longbow @ FT08
Discussion
Well chaps, as the title says I have decided to pit my peachy 4.2 Cerbera against the equally rude Tuscan S of Nelly1 over a standing mile this Sunday. Both cars have clocked 12.4 seconds at the Pod although the Tuscan was quicker last year. Good luck Nelly
Nelly's Tuscan will also face an E60 M5 SMG in round 1 and an RS6+ in round 3! Other highlights for TVR owners is a face-off between a Sagaris and a Lambo Gallardo!

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the last 1/4 mile...
Can't wait - I see you've managed to sort the weather again this year
And I've just bought one of these..., which should be getting delivered today, so I'll have a couple of days to play with it for the best results...
...Hmmm, should I point it backwards or forwards...

Last minute traction control and deep treaded wet tyres look the order of the day to me at the moment ...
That's changed every day this week so far - one day sunny, the next rain.It was the same forecast last year IIRC, and it was a cracking day!
Have no fear - Windsor's your man

And Mark - challenge accepted Sir!

Longbow I hope he kicks your arse
It will actually be really interesting to see which is the faster/quicker car. Here's a vid of me driving a cerbera 4.2 v a standard tuscan (the cerbera owner is videoing it from the passenger seat of the tuscan) .. after the initial better acceleration of the cerbera out of the corner has slowed the cars are pretty much exactly the same speed .. so the standing mile has got to be a really good guide to which cars are truly the performance kings

Forwards for your first race of the day race against me!

Just kidding I've just been watching a few youtube videos and your car looks/sounds like a montster, I thought my second race against a 650bhp CL55AMG was going to be painful but I might be leaving with my tail between my legs after the first race

It was a bone of contention on here... a few months back....
Has your M5 been de-limited? And is it true you need a degree get it off the line in the right mode?
...or has Top Gear been lying to me...

Should be a good one mate - I might have the drop on you off the line, but I reckon you'll reel me in after 1/2 distance...

You'll definitely have the drop off the line without a shadow of a doubt. My car is completely stock, the only thing done is the limit removal. The old limiter was at 171mph on the dash, which showed as 164mph true gps speed and it hit that in 6th after around 0.8 miles with another gear to still to go, it's now good for 205mph but that'd need about 3 miles not 1 mile.It was a bone of contention on here... a few months back....

Clarkson dramatised things a lot, getting off the line using launch control just involves pressing the m-button (if preprogrammed properly) and programming the button might not be straight forward for most but I've got a degree in Computer Science so a doddle for me.
I've never done any racing off the line before so I'll be "losing my virginity" so to speak with my first line up against you. I've used my launch control messing around a handful of times and tracked it at Nurburgring, Bedford and Silverstone over the last 2 years.
Really can't wait for Sunday now, heading down from Chester on Saturday evening and getting a hotel somewhere.
See you there!
