ways of knowing its a "Red Rose"?
Discussion
Some indicators are...
Bigger discs (same as used on S)
Different shockers
and told on some but not all...bigger bore exhaust (from cats to back section).
Now dont ask me how you can tell the difference from the 'std' shockers to RR ones, and the same to the exhaust, without measuring outside diameter.
Also, but not obvious, the head has been 'worked' and led to believe slightly higher compression, again same as S model...
...but wot do i know, i only own one!

there has been a few threads on this, so do a search, but here is a previous post of mine:
A factory Red Rose pack consisted of:
18" Spider wheels.
Bigger brakes with alloy front bells.
Firmer height adjustable suspension.
Engine built to RR spec which became S spec (but the S's got bigger bore exhausts)
with of course the marker pen on the fuel rail saying "Red Rose"
and...that's it!!
All for £4200.00.
Some cars are advertised as RR as they have had the engines rebuilt to supposed RR/S spec over the years, but as you say, unless you have the proof of build as a original factory RR, it's not a genuine Red Rose..."
The exhaust unfortunately is standard Tuscan, only the S cars got bigger bore.

Mines a Redrose and and has the big bore exhaust...well at least thats what Dan at Leven Tech told me when it was serviced there last time...
Tbh i think that what ever was laying around the factory at the time was what was fitted...it seems that so many owners have something, that was not 'standard', fitted to their cars!

Satman, that's interesting. When was your car built and then registered? It says 2001 on your profile, but the plate says 02?
Maybe yours was a late RR car built when they introduced the S model and hence you have the bigger bore exhaust, which is a good thing!
Take another look at the plate! Maybe yours was a late RR car built when they introduced the S model and hence you have the bigger bore exhaust, which is a good thing!

ok maybe I'm being dim but does it say red rose on the stamp or just RR?
I have RR stampings....
also I thought the hydratrak diff was a RR thing??
Hydratrack was only standard on the S. Otherwise it was an option.I have RR stampings....

It only says RR on the block to define a factory RR engine, on the head it means rebuilt, I will post more info on this tomorrow, I have some details from the factory engine department I will dig out.
