well.....Tuscan 50-70 time 6.1 sec
Fabia VRS Tdi 50-70 time 5.6 sec
I have both and the weee Skoda is much better
on fuel and number of seats
funnily enough when I was a lot younger I "went as fast as I could whilst following" a 3.2 Carerra across Snake Pass in my then 21 yr old 1969 Baked Bean tin Blue Mini 1000 Automatic.....he only lost me on the straight over Ladybower

Not that surprising given the torque of modern turbodiesels, and it's probably just coming on boost in about 5th gear (ish) at that point. Same gear (which I assume is how the test was done) in a Tuscan at 50-70......it's not even trying, nowhere near the revs for peak torque.

well you can't really compare them
in the same way that an M5 or an SL (bit nearer here) isn't really a comparison either
my Skoda takes me the 100 mile round trip to work and back and is a great little car
my Tuscan goes brrrraaaaaaaapppppppppppppp like nothing on Earth
the "daft" competitons bit was the thrust really - its funny how the whole my car is faster than yours (knob is bigger than yours??) thing still goes on
the fastest car I ever drove was my Dad's Aubergine 1.6GL Cavalier but thats becuase I was a fearless and brainless teenager (and I didn't pay for the car )
The fastest car I ever saw was a twin engined Mk1 Golf which chewed up and spat out a Sagaris and many "faster" cars. The drivers of the Golf were just in it for the Hoon - not to have a competition.......
- did you really buy your Tuscan to compare it to other cars?

I've said this before, but the driver has so much more to do with it.
There are so many people out there who have fast cars and never go over 80mph or will even rev their cars hard. And what about cornering? Even people who will push it along, or drag from the lights seem to bottle it when they come to a roundabout? Very,very few people are prepared to leave their braking till as late as they possibly dare and throw the car sideways through a roundabout with smoke streaming off their tyres in a massive, long gorgeous powerslide, then floor it out of the exit with the tail wagging and their heart pounding in their chest - LOL.
Track times are mathmatical equaions to do with response times and power to weight ratios in a controlled environment.
I heard of a guy with a Chimeara who never took it over 3000 rpm - go figure!

Given that a recent survey run by the same people that massage the numbers for various SCPs has proved beyond all doubt that 93.7% of TVR accidents happen within 500 yeards of a roundabout, they do have a point. 
I have a MINI on 175/65s for safe and carefree roundabout terrorism
