Gear Stick Disconnected
Discussion
I have a Tuscan 4.0 Mk 1. Changed gear and the gear stick suddenly disconnected from the gear box. It just flaps around like a useless piece of metal.
How do I get at it to fix it as there is no obvious way to get the gaiter off? Presumably, being a TVR you have to take the engine out and remove the bodywork or something simple like that!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello there,
You need to remove the centre console (2 screws at front-sides and one under the rear vent) and disconnect the wiring loom underneath. You should then be able to lift up the carpet surrounding the gear stick etc and see the 3 or 4 screws holding down the rubber seal. Take this off and you can see down into the gearbox - sounds like the retaining screw has come loose, hopefully, which will either be a grub screw or a hex-head bolt. The gearstick should slot back in place and be tightened up with the screw, or something along those lines anyway
This is from memory so might not be 100% right in your case but it should point you in the right direction - hopefully it is nothing more serious that a loose screw....
