Looking for the right Tuscan?

I have already owned a tuscan 1 before. I bought it fairly impulsively, not having carried out any real research or having any proper knowledge about them at, however in the couple of weeks that I spent browsing for one that I liked, in amongst all the positive right ups the general feedback was that if you buy tuscan 1 you are buying problems, I bought one knowing this. I had also picked up on what seemed to be a fundamental rule when buying a tuscan 1 which is it should have had a rebuild. I found out recently that it is better to have the rebuild carried out from 04 onwards owing to the better quality cams etc that are used, luckily the one that I had bought had a late rebuild!
I sold the car last year having owned it for about 9mts, and since then I have done nothing but talk about it and miss it all the time so I have made my mind up to buy another again. This time I have spent lots of time reading up on information and scouring pistonheads for juicy data, but the more I look in to it in detail the more negatives I see about it. I must be a nutter because I still want to buy one, and had one inspected buy inter-motion last week “whom has been outstanding in his service”, this through up too many issues with this particular car for me and I did not buy it.
I know find myself in a quandary as the more knowledgeable I become on Tuscans the more choosy I become and know I am looking for the perfect 2nd hand tuscan. I wanted to ask some advice.
• Is it true about the 04 onwards rebuilds.
• What else should I be looking for when the engine is rebuilt?
• Is the life of the clutch about 20k?
• I see many that have had a master clutch cylinder changed, what the life of one of these, and how is it different from a clutch?
• Has the tuscan 2 sp6 engine had the weeknesess of the tuscan 1 sp6 changed?
• Any other info on purchasing a 2nd hand tuscan will be gratefully received!

Can't help thinking that this is the wrong way to go about buying a TVR.
Obviously this forum has a lot of complaints on it but you must realise that this is only natural and does not represent a blanaced view of ownership.
My experience of TVRs is that a lot of little things go wrong - all the time, but basically they are as good a car as any other. My wife's Audi TT on a 51 plate has had more problems than both my TVRs this year and has cost a fortune to repair - try £600 to fix the fuel sender! My mates merc 220 cost £850 just to be on the diagnostic software and they still didn't find the ECU fault.
I would recommend yo treat a TVR purchase the same as any other car - buy the newest you can afford, in the colour you desire wit ha good interior, with the most amount of money spent on it, with a proven guarantee from a genuine vendor. Get it HPI checked and take someone with you who knows what they are looking at, if you don't.
