Misfiring and stuttering in low gear!
Discussion
Evening chaps,
Took the Tuscan out this evening for a drive and it appears to be a bit unwell!
Start up is fine and it's idling around 700rpm, where it normally sits... although the first time I fired her up, for about 10 seconds the revs raised themselves up to around 1400rpm. As I start to drive off it feels like the revs drop to almost stalling and the car starts shuddering. I have to raise revs to about 2000+rpm to get moving and then it feels like it's only just holding on to life. Once in 2nd gear things improve slightly but then under acceleration it doesn't seem to be pulling at all and is very, very rough.
Also sounds like it's misfiring when idling if I raise the revs slightly plus a LOT more pops on overrun - again, sounding more like misfiring than normal overrun. The noise from the back just isn't 'right'.
Yesterday everything was fine. I filled up with Tesco 99 on my way home last night and thought maybe it could be a bad batch of petrol? Or maybe I overfuelled? Tried using up about 2-3 litres worth though so it should have sorted itself out if it was.
Next thought could be the throttle pots, coil pack, etc... but surely that would have been a progressive decline rather than overnight? Could be a cylinder not working properly? Not sure what else... hopefully nothing serious!
Looks like I'll be taking a trip to Arkley on Saturday morning!

Turns out that one of the fuel injectors was clogged up with what looked like limescale and no fuel was getting to the spark plug. Very weird.
Fix was to drain the petrol, take the fuel injector out, clean out the crap and plug it all back together. Luckily nothing serious and the engine is going strong once more!
Unfortunately it also looks like one of the cats has got a split in it and will need welding or changing... so now will probably be a good time to get it decatted!
