Came out my meeting, drove away in the Tuscan, stopped at the traffic lights, couldn't get into first gear, tried the other gears, CRUNCH and stalled. Couldn't get into any gears.

Got pushed into a nearby petrol station (it's great how everyone is so nice and understanding and helpful when you're in a TVR - none of the traffic that got held up got annoyed).

The AA guy says it's my clutch plate (or was it gear plate? can't remember). Anyway, I got it brought home rather than taken to the garage so I can ask you guys how much money I should start saving up to get it fixed. Utterly skint at the moment! Anyone got a ballpark figure as I have no idea.

Oh, and of course the TVR has priority over food, heating this winter, clothes and (sshhh) the bird.

New clutch costs around £1100 including parts, labour and VAT.

Exact same thing happened tome the other day though i managed to get it home using mainly 4th and 5th. Didn't get any crunching with mine though, just biting point very close to the floor then not really disengaing at all the further I drove it.

Anyway, i've been told it's probably either a finger broken from the clutch or the slave cylinder.

About £1000 for the clutch and £400 for the slave cylinder if I remember correctly.

Sounds like the same problem mine is in for, slave cylinder seals have gone.....may just need new seals £350 + Vat Fitted or if replacement cylinder £550 + VAT fitted. frown
