Hi guys

Just got back from an evening out and got stuck in some unexpected traffic. When I put the car out of gear I could hear a rattle/clatter coming from the transmission tunnal. However it goes away as soon as the clutch is put in. Am I right in thinking this could be a clutch release bearing on the way out? She pulls just as strong as before and can hold the rev's and agressive gear changes well. I fear I may have damaged it a bit when showing up a 911 smile

certainly sounds like the release bearing
never heard of anyone frying one through
spirited use though...that normally knackers
the friction plates
does it do it cold and hot?

It does it from cold.

The noise goes away as soon as pressure is applied to the pedal however it gets a lot worse when the pedal is just off the floor and then goes when the pedal is on the floor

Definately sounds like the Clutch Release Bearing on it's way out. Will be noisy and annoying but will still hold up for quite a while.
