since decat Tuscan smells of fuel
Discussion
NTEL's right I reckon - it should go away once the lambda's are warmed up a bit and start doing their stuff. It's an outside chance but could whoever de-catted the car have put the lambda's back on the wrong banks (swapped over)? Did they re-set the adaptives? Do you have a laptop running the diagnostics software? This would help to diagnose this. However, if the engine is running fine, just seeming to be a bit rich, then it's probably not that. If it's a standard 4L (not an S) then the decat chip from Power should help. Otherwise, you might want to look at a remap (so long as there is nothing else in the system causing overfueling).
Tricky one to comment on accurately without knowing what else is going on TBH,

Do you have a laptop running the diagnostics software? Yes, But i'm not a advanced user of software.

Hi Andy,
Doesn't sound too serious then. You can download the SP6 software user guide from the mytuscan.co.uk website (see here http://www.mytuscan.co.uk/downloads/TuscanDiagnost... which will give you some good pointers as to what to look out for. What are your adaptives looking like at idle when it is nice and warm? Take a look at what the lambda's are doing - they should both be switching which you can see easily enough from the live input screen in the software. If you see that one of both of them is not jumping up to around the 1.5v mark then it might suggest that something is wrong there. Like I said, it's probably a long shot though. It might be that you just need to have a bit of a tune-up. If it's due a service then get the valve clearances set right and then have the throttle-bodies and pots balanced and re-set from there. If you are still thinking it is too rich after that then it's probably something that can only be sorted with a mapping session.
All said and done, it's probably just a side-effect of the decat, especially if the engine is running smoothly enough and nothing else strange is going on.
Sorry can't be much more help for you, hope you get your mind put to rest soon enough,
Andy
PS: you wouldn't have any leaks now where the new pipes were fitted that's causing the increased "smell"?

Very good point Andy. The decat pipes need to be seated absolutely square on to the manfold mating flanges to make the seal and the V clamps have to be fully tightened (but not murdered up).andyoleary said:
Hi Dave - I was hoping you would reply....I wasn't for one moment suggesting that your nice, shiny pipes would not fit properly....
Andy
They are a reet good tight fit though requiring all the accumulated s
te and rust to be scraped off the existing manifold mating flanges.Gassing Station | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
