Any thoughts on this Tuscan?

Cheap as chips... lot of miles.. but if no problems to date why should the new owner have them?? Main thing is check the chassis..if its a rot box then forget it... For that price you've got to allow for new dampers and possible engine work, but if the car is sound and you expect a few bills then go for it. Check for water leaks...roof , doors , drivers and passenger footwells.
Might be worth getting one of the specialists to give it the once over, but providing the chassis is good, and the engine checks out (Compression Test, Visual Check on the Finger Followers and Cams, and that it sounds ok) and the box and diff feel ok, then it could be good value for money.
If it's been looked after, and done mainly long journeys and treated well, it could be as good as some with half the mileage.

Not necessarily sooner or later than any other Tuscan. If it hasn't had any engine issues over 40,000 miles chances are it's a good 'un.

Fair enoguh but I'd say thar chance is a given even if it had 5,000 miles on the odo after the head work. Mileage covered without engine problems does at least indicate that there were no obvious faults on the work performed, and a sympathetic driver. A second opinion from a trusted source is of course always A Good Thing, but there have been cases where everything obvious checked out well and the engine still let go shortly afterwards. Go into it with your eyes wide open,with a fighting fund behind you.
I got mine with a full rebuild at 23,000 miles in 2005 at the factory,and the first day i had it on 25,000 miles Nov 2007 it dropped a shim
I did my home work and still had problems !
In 12 months i have spent close on £14,000 on upgrades and various things to get my car fully sorted,and i don't regret a pound of it,Its the best car I have ever had NOW !
What i would say to anyone thinking of buying a Tuscan is "It ain't gonna be cheap to run" Unless you are extremely handy with spanners.

Indeed, just get it properly checked over, and if you are cool with the gamble on the engine and have the funds available "if" there is a problem, then enjoy!!leemarkadams said:

As said, only concern is the engine...why did they make them so fragile???
'Cause they wanted to have their cake and eat it - a bespoke engine at the sort of development budget that would net BMW an ashtray for their 7-series, and cost per unit at a level with the RV8-based mills... To an extent you can save on development cost if you can compromise on cost per unit (i.e. you just specify parts that you know will do the job with a bit to spare) and vice versa, but you cannot have both unless you are very very lucky. As said, only concern is the engine...why did they make them so fragile???
