Help me decide which one!

Right, as you may all know am hoping to get a Tuscan soon, now I am interested in either of these 3:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/737881.htm (no rebuild-could get for 10K?-spoke to torque RVT and they claim it is a good car, chassis good, interior immaculate, lots of adjustment left on tappets etc etc)


http://www.icardealer.co.uk/detail-11-tvr-tuscan-4... (not used for a while, 2 x rebuilds and could get for 11K - current owner not too clued up on the car!)

Each have their pros and cons!

What to do?

Same here - followed by the 2nd.

Lee - can I ask if you have enough in your budget to allow for servicing or 'engine issues'? I only ask as they're not cheap cars to run and I'd ahte to see you spend your hard earned only for something to happen. There are a few recently rebuilt engined cars for sale for only a couple of grand more.

I do have enought for any work if required, but I would rather not splash out too much on the car initially, as otherwise you end up spending £20K on a Tuscan, and even then it is NO guarantee that it will not need major work.

As i have said in previous posts, I am more then willing to do a lot of the work myself, just not engine wise, as although I feel I am competent and confident enough I would not want to!

And just throwing another one into the mix, James Agger has the old development car (heavily modified) for 15K. And that had it's engine done at TVR Power a couple of years ago...

Asking quite a lot for £1500-£2000 off for private sales dont you think? Doubt many people would want to let a car for for more that £1000 off the asking price unless they are very desperate.

Don't dismiss the cost of desirable mods - LSD, suspension, CCC, red rose?

I have just spend £1k on suspension yet I dismissed a different Tuscan originally as it was £1k too much for me!

Interior and paint consition is another expensive thing to rectify....as I am about to find out!

Seriously, though, you seem to be well aware of the risks/pitfalls as I was before taking the plunge. My gearbox broke within 2 months, but managed to fix it REASONABLY cheaply and haven't regretted it for a second.
The real biggies are obviously the engine and chassis, but if you're handy you can save a fotune fixing/tinkering things yourself. I do, and love it - absolutely AWESOME cars and can't think of any sports car this side of an Aston/Ferrari I would rather have.
