Where to order gas strut for boot lid?

My gast strut seems to be worn out, since it doen't succeed in keeping up the boot lid upright anymore.

It also does not lift it for the first bit, so it is alway fiddling to get my fingers between, or is this normal?

Do you guys recommend a heavier one? And where can i order one?

I got one from TVR power, although Clever Trevor or Racing green have them.

Due to the heavier weight of my boot lid with larger spoiler option & color coded carpet I looked in to getting a stronger one from the O/E manufacture,and they suggested an adjustable one via RS components part No 686 963, this is also has variable pressure adjustment.

how is life?

My strut is struggeling too and it's almost brand new! With the spoiler the lid is just too heavy.
Stronger/adjustable one sounds great, tell me when you know more.

I've always wondered why Tuscan Mk2 convertibles have gas struts at both sides, whereas doesn't a MK2 Targa only have a strut on one side ??? . With the large spoiler spec'd on some Targa 'S's you would TVR would have also fitted both struts on Targas aswell.
Suppose thats TVR for you...

in more than 15 years of TVR-ownership and having owned more than 10 I stopped wondering about such things.... in fact for me it is part of the charm which is heavily missed now TVR is dead.

Let 's hope one of the whealthier enthusiasts among us realise that it is better to have a little less and enjoy the resurrection of our beloved TVR (including racing, factory visits, sleepless nights about the endless customisation and so on....)

I did not go for the RS part at the time as I was near TVR Power and got one from there.

I will probably try the RS item if this one gives up though.

Looked at fitting two struts and it may be feasible on later Tuscans with the flush fitting petrol cap, although the boot mounting point may need looking into as it is not the same both sides on the Targa boots.
