Sagaris prices

I have intntionally posted this in the Tuscan forum, as if I asked in the Sagaris forum, I would get pro biased answers.
I've been looking at the prices of used Sagaris compared to used Tuscan. The Sagaris seems to be 7-8 thousand pounds more for a comparable year.
Why is this? Was the Sagaris that much more to begin with, or is it due to the amount of cars produced?

I think its down to several reasons, dynamically its supposed to be a better car, low production numbers (especially when you factor in the tucan 1's as well), and it was the latest and greatest (and last) model produced before TVR went pop.

If the Sagaris 2 ever materialises from the never-never land of faries and make-believe that the current owners of the TVR brand seem to ocupy then prices will probably come down a bit! maybe...

I would suggest that is ever more increasingly an unlikely event given the current financial state of affairs in the UK and Europe and .....blah

If you can read with any truth what the media is printing regarding small businesses and no money being loaned by banks. I would expect the likes of a TVR rebirth anytime soon to be even more of a none existent event..... SADLY.

However, I would like to think that the mark is too big, brave and hairy chested not to make a come back some time in the future. Perhaps it will be in that bright new world that Labour see through their rosey tinted glasses (the glasses that already seem to over look the huge amount of debt the UK will be in...!).

In 2006 the basic price of a Sagaris was 8K more than the basic price of a Tuscan 2. OK if you added the sports pack at list price to the Tuscan then it would become the same price, but then you would have to add the cost of close ratio gearbox & aircon to the Sagaris to make them mechanically the same so the Sagaris would still be more expensive.

I actually swapped a Sagaris for a Tuscan 2 S, so financially it hasn't been the greatest decision but I don't regret doing it. My tuscan handles just as well as my Sagaris used to, if anything it's slightly quicker in a straight line (definitely over 100mph) I can take the roof off too.

Apart from the wide track the supsension is virtually the same on later tuscan 2s and it's all the better for it but unlike the Sagaris the bonnet doesn't wobble disconcertingly at high speed! The later tuscans are superb and underrated cars and saving 8k over a sagaris leaves you money for a racing green bucket engine or alternatively the monster tvr power 4.3. My car posted 326bhp at the rear wheels on power's dyno and it goes like stink. Power's 4.3 hit a scary 370bhp!!!!

Looking at advertised prices ,I would agree that Sags seem to appear at higher prices than Tuscan Mk2s (you can't include Mk1s because of the year of manufacture). However, I wanted an open top convertible, not a fast sports coupe, hence I bought a Tuscan 2 convertible. In terms of numbers produced, there were fewer Mk2 Tuscans (Targas & Verts combined) produced than Sags, so rarity isn't the reason.

The 1st March 2005 TVR Official Pricelist shows a std. Sag at £49,995 , a Tuscan 2 S 4.0 litre Targa at £49,995 and a Tuscan Convertible S 4.0 Litre Convertible at £51,995 (I accept the 1st Convertible wasn't available until Sept'05). I agree the Sag price doesn't include C/R box,A/C and Gas discharge lights so add £1,930+1,530+585=£4,045,making £54,040). But a Sag did include Full Hide which was £1,980 on a Tuscan, so a 'S' Vert and a Sag were just about the same. Individual specs. paint is the same for either models. Other than the slightly wider wheelbase and pink springs , I'm unaware mechanically of the difference between an 'S' Tuscan and a Sag, but I've got a big boot. Don't know why a Sag is stated as 406bhp and an 'S' 400bhp.

Same Sag with C/R,A/C,Gas Disc. lights & Full Leather (became an extra then)=£49350+1765+1530+885+1175=£54705
Same Tuscan (Targas and Verts became the same price)£39950+9988+1175 = £51113.

So a new Tuscan became cheaper and a new Sag became more expensive during 2005.

TVR prices varied over 2005 and 2006, a number of people (including myself) took advantage of the Tuscan "S PACK" offer for £4112 (rather than paying £9988) around Dec/Jan 2006.

Why the Sags are keeping their advertised value better than MK2s , I don't know....may be they are more radical and that makes them more appealing. It just strikes me there are some very good Mk2s going at exceptionally good prices...not mine though, 'cos I've no intention of selling.

Has my Tuscan (s) vert 2006 model got the same underpinnings as a saggy, i know my dad paid extra for the CR box and other bits and bods so WHY is the saggy more money second hand than a tuscan (s) vert when only a hand full of vert (s) where made.????????????????????????????????????? I guess the springs (the pink ones) are a bit stiffer than 'S' springs, which in turn are stiffer than a Std. Tuscan . Sags were more focused on track use than Tuscans.

Guess like most things , it comes down to demand. More people must want Sags, if dealers can get a higher price then they'll ask for it and I assume get it. Trouble is ALL cars seem to be sticking now and people aren't buying anything. So a good time to get a good deal if you're buying, no so clever if you have to sell though.
