I think I get the TVR thing now!

Owned my Tuscan for coming on 8 months now, I have done just over 3K in it, apart from a clutch [ first one] at 23k [ its now nearly on 24k ], no major probs.
However, I have replaced the HT leads due to worsening hiccupping, and have been to Andy at APM for 2 “plug ins” plus a 12k service, and at present she runs spot on.
The point I am trying to make is, when something needs attention, its always in the back of my mind, and I am not fully happy with the Car, this in a weird sort of way, makes it so much more interesting, and along with how much fun it is to drive, makes me realise why TVR’s, are so special.
Good example, today is my Birthday, so I thought sod work, I will have a day to myself, what did I do, got the Tuscan up on axle stands, wheels off, grabbed Mr Gunk and cleaned off all the underneath plus in the engine bay [ lower bits!! ], touched up the paint on the chassis a little, and gave it a dam good clean to get off all the winter crap, as I reckon the worst of the weather is over now [ you watch, it will snow next week!! ]
I went for a run to dry it all off, Nr side indicator on the dash not appearing to flash, even though they were working externally, had a little chuckle, went back home, took the dash top off [ Hazards N/W as well ] pushed the big plug behind the Dash back in, all working fine, and finished off the “big clean”, so she looks like new [ well almost for an 8.5 year old car ]
Now I have cracked open a beer, and am admiring my work! the last time I felt like this, I was 20 something!

Sounds like you have had a good day, I find it really therapeutic spending a day cleaning the Tuscan, even though the Mrs thinks I am mental!

Hi Mark, Nice that you say this!! of course we look for solutions for problems on this forum a lot, but we sometimes forget why we are willing to take all this troubles for granted.

For me an experience like this was the first time (after owning the car for a year!!) i took not only my roof, but also my rear window out, because the guy who works on my cars (and who owns a Tusc as well) told me there would be a lot less turbulention of the wind in the interior and hence i would be hearing my decatted CCC's screaming much louder!!! The drive home over the B-road I have driven almost all my life was one of the most memorable drives of my life. The sun was setting, everything was properly warmed up, (i love the dashboard illumination when it's (getting) dark) and than THAT SOUND!!!!

I drove the same road with 200+ Km/h in a 997 GT3 being bored, but flying over it in a flame spitting, screaming Tuscan at 180 km/h made me feel like a second world war fighter-pilot and i could not get the silly grin from my face.

That's TVR for me.
