I think this guy owns it and he's currently having the engine rebuilt at racing green for one of those new bucket follower engines.

There's a whole thread about it in the 'Speed Six' forum. Something tells me it's probably not for sale

Hi Pascal,

We were hoping to re-sell it at a charity auction in the USA to go for a private museum.

John Travolta is willing to meet you and sign the car and we would be willing to fly you out to the states if you want the publicity, and should you change your mind on the matter feel free to contact me privately.

If this one is not for sale, a similar offer to an identical car would be considered but at a much lower price and anybody can feel free to contact me in this respect. One option we have is to get the original engineers (who a freinds of ours) to repaint and retrim a similar car.

i know its strange but if the offer was not genuine
i would not release our company details.

We will be looking at the classifieds, but this is really not the point. The original car is what was wanted, even reconditioning the engine reduces the value of the vehicle, as the movie memorabilia market is a very strange thing.

There were actually two cars, just speaking to the ex-development director of
tvr, Gav Beach, two cars went over.

Should anybody know of the history of the second car, especially if it has not had any work done, then let us know also because we are in the market for both vehicles.

I thought there was 3 cars in total, one had the machine gun holes in it and was a rolling shell with no engine/power train IIRC?

Very sorry again, but I've bought it myself exactly for the reason it was featured in Swordfish...

As for the engine "degrading" the value: it went all wrong at Easter Monday 2007, when one of the crankshaft bearings decided to give in, so I have no other choice than to have the engine rebuilt. Since it's a special car to me too, I have decided to go all the way with the rebuild, as Racing Green (where it currently resides), have changed so much to the engine, that, at least for me, it doesn't feel like reducing the value, but on the contrary, just uplifting it. Reason why I say it, is that the engine has been improved a lot over the standard Speed Six engine.

Anyhow, for those wondering, according to the official TVR docs, there were 4 identical cars, out if which I have the W998 AFR that John Travolta (and Tiff Needell) drove. One (haven't had the chance to go there myself before the factory went... well, you know what happened) should indeed be the one with the bullet holes in it...

Again, very sorry Mike, and allthough I wouldn't mind if let's say you'd want to borrow it for an expo, but it won't ever be for sale...

Adding to that I test drove W998 AFR at the factory as part of my settlement with TVR whilst my Cerbera was breaking down every 5 minutes. Needless to say my settlement was a Tuscan and I was allowed to jump the then lengthy waiting list and got it 6 weeks later :-)
