Hi all,

Well after a slendid weekend of burbling around, the love of my life has transmuted to a paperweight.
No problems before hand - no misfires or stuttering - nothing to sugest electrical or fuel probs.
Now engine spins but doesnt start - I havnt checked the fuses yet - too dark, but if anyone has experienced similar, then guidance would be appreciated
Thanks

Its on the list to be checked, but I would have thought that a fuse with that rating would be servicing the starter motor, or something with huge power draw - i cant see that ignition or fuel pump would draw that much current - I could be wrong though.

Just tried starting again - no luck. Not sure about the fuel pump, there are some rumblings and buzzes which last for 5 secs ish when i swith on the ignition, difficult to say whether they are coming from front or back tho. did have imob problem a while back - but that stopped the engine cranking. now it cranks but doesnt fire. - and yes full tank of arab juice.

Try the 'ignition coil' fuse No17 this is normally 15 Amps, but does sometimes nuisance blow,in later Tuscans this was increased to 20 Amps.

Otherwise it could be a coil pack problem.

If the engine is turning over the immobiliser should be OK.

Check your fuel pump fuse, sounds like what happened to me with the Sag.

Good luck biggrin

Any News Steve.................??

I had the same problem about a month ago, and it was fuse 17 (Ignition Coil Fuse), changed it from 15amp to 20amp as per the later cars. Car started straight away.

Now I always carry a fuse pack with me, including the 100amp fuse. (Just got to remember where that ones located, otherwise it's abit pointless carrying it......LOL.

Hi Jim,

Just checked all the fuses and so far nothing wrong.(changed fuse 17 with a new 20a - was already 20a) where is the 100 amp fuse anyway ? the only thing I did differently was fill up before parking - I normally fill up ang go for a spin - I seem to remember reading that overfilling can cause starting problems. If no one can come up with any more ideas then i guess its a call to the RAC and a trailer to TVRFIX

The 100amp fuse is located underneath the airbox on the side of the block......... If my memory serves me correctly.

Remove air box/throttle body cover, remove air filter, disconect a few hoses to assist and you will see a little black box near the spark plugs leads that go into the ignition coil pack. Then you should see a black plastic box, probably with a small cable tie around it. Remove the cable ties and you should be able to open the box which will reveal what basically looks like a flat strip of metal. This is the 100 amp fuse.

There is something mentioned about not filling the tank to the brim, might be worth taking of the petrol cap and seeing if you can see petrol in the neck of the filler pipe.

Thanks for the info, on 100a. Already checked fuel cap - nothing sloshing around visually. Sounds as if the RAC is the best route. will call them tomorrow. I just hope it can be fixed for the weekend. Lifes a bi*ch and then you buy a Tuscan, and you realise that life hasnt really started on you yet smile Guess I had better put the Bank Manager on Danger Money as well!!!

thanks all.

In this case sadly no - car used to fire up in less than 1 sec - now spins like a top and nuffink

Just seen your TVR woes

Hope you can get it fixed soon. Shame about that stupid engine cover, or you could carry out some simple checks quickly.

At the risk of teaching/sucking eggs etc. be logical,
1. Any fuel getting to engine?
2. Any spark getting to plugs?

Once that sussed should be easier to trace fault back to source.

Alternatively - invoke tht lovely warranty you got.

Anyway - as long as it is fixed by June!!!

Good luck mate

Gary

ps if any consolation Jag died electrically just before xmas - nothing dead - Norwegian parrot and all that. Called jag assist, while waiting for tow truck it started - blinking thing!
