...that I'm buying another one.

Crazy? Maybe, but I have spoken to TVR and they assure me that if I buy another car they will make sure I am happy with it.

Quick recap, I bought a new Tuscan 4.0 earlier this year and it was a dogs dinner, I rejected it and the dealer dug his heels in and said no, as did TVR. I got legal on their asses and got a refund with the help of a solicitor (this was easy since the car was really bad). I got all my money back.

Since then I have looked at a lot of other cars. Porsches, Mercs, another TT (the 3.2), even the Nissan 350Z.

But none of them are unique in the way the Tuscan is.

All other cars seem so pedestrian after having owned a Tuscan.

So, please everyone have your fingers crossed for me, I'm going in again!

Go for it!

Despite what some people say, some cars are screwed together very well - if you're down Essex way, then I'm more than happy to show you around my one.

I had a factory visit a few weeks ago which made me think about a few things.

There were some cars there that were perfect. I told Lisa that I wanted a car "like that one" and then I wouldn't need a solicitor.

It was a bit uncomfortable going round again as "that bloke that got a solicitor involved and won", but what the hell, it DID costs me £40,000!

I'm not going to name names but even a few people at TVR said that some cars are good and some are bad. The only thing they added to this was that if I had given the dealer the chance to fix it, they would have. I still don't think thats fair though, afterall, it should be right from the get go. Its all history now though.

I've just got to pick a colour now. I had moonraker black before but fancy something different for a fresh start.

Suggestions on a postcard please!

Charcoal Reflex?
Jet Black?
Black Black?
Cascade Coalhole?

Oops - sorry, started off being sensible. Are there any "interesting" colour schemes going through the factory at the moment?

Based on all your previous threads, do you feel a right knob now?

I probably would.

Swilly, I'll take you comments as friendly and answer honestly.

Do I feel a knob for rejecting a £40,000 piece of junk? No.

Do I feel a knob for trying again to get the same car when this was offered to me in the first place (I was offered a replacement car)? A little bit yes!

Anyway, all that matters is that the rough car went back, and hopefully a new car will be 100%.

Coming back after all that! Fantastic. I am sure this time you wont be disappointed.

At least I hope not, we could do without it all kicking off on this forum again!

I could have been a bit clearer, but you got the point anyway.

Maybe TVR customer care isnt all bad eh.

I must say Chewy I'm amazed, after all that you've said, that you are considering buying another TVR.

I'm also amzed, after the public slagging you gave them, that TVR are considering selling you one.

Well done TVR.

TVR will probably build in a few optional extras FOC - like a driver's ejector seat!

Difficult to see the purpose of that comment?

Chewbacca - looking back through your threads, looks like your Tuscan was in slightly worse shape than mine when I got mine new. I had to get windows remounted, doors resprayed and adjusted, clean all the glue off etc. But had no mechanical problems. After 6 months I sold the car and I think the new owners have had few problems and are very happy with it.

I feel the same way as you do now!...having got rid of the Tuscan for the reasons above, bought an BMW M3 which is a great car, but does not have the raw excitement of a TVR, I am now looking at a T350C.....The build quality on the T350C is much better than my Tuscan was and the more traditional instruments and switches work, for me, better than the Tuscan.

My dealer was very good and really tried to resolve all the issues. Selection of your dealer is almost as important as selection of your car spec!..unfortunately, in Scotland, you have no choice as there is only one. My experience of them was very good.

My feeling towards TVR's are that I can, to some extent, live with most of the imperfections as I know a good dealer will sort them out. However, SP6 engine problems would kill my enthusiasm and I really hope that era is largely behind them. From what I read on the T350 forum there appear to be few problems with those engines.

Looking forward to next year when I may place an order.

Good for you chewwy!

I hope to do the same at some point in the future. Maybe another Tuscan, unless they have something really amazing at the same price...

Thanks again everyone for your support.

Heres a quick colour update.

Its down to 3 colours...

1. Spectraflair Silver (not sure about silver generally since it is the most common colour on the road - not on TVRs - but on the road generally - Is the press T350 this colour?)

2. Grigio Titanio (saw one at the factory with portland leather and it had a real shine to it, very classy and very stylish - very italian)

3. Storm Grey (currently my first choice, but the grigio car I saw at the factory made me appreciate the shut and join lines of the car, whereas in storm grey they are a little less noticeable and its making me think)

Decisions decisions.

Any help in the form of "look at these photos of my car" / "I've got colour X and I love it" / "That colour sucks don't buy it" would be much apprecitated.

Thanks

The Italian comment was made as a compliment to the Grigio Titanio car. It did look "Italian", which to me means stylish, expensive, classic, and lots of other superlatives.

Whilst I was born here I hardly consider the term "British" to be a compliment! And when you look at the stunning lines of a Tuscan do you really think "British"? I certainly don't think it looks like a "British" car (although of course it is British).

Jags and MGs and Austins "look" British, they helped define what a "British" car looks like. A modern TVR (Tuscan, T350 et al) look a lot more "Italian" in my opinion.
