Tried posting this on the General TVR forum but to no avail. Does anyone know where you can get a ceramic gearstick from to stop the gear knob getting so hot on my tuscan. Its not a major problem but just something else I want to get done.

I saw that in Graham Varleys manual he had one.

Many Thanks

Greig

I'm pretty sure there are other ways to stop the heatsoak coming through to the original gearknob as i had this with my MK1 Tuscan and it was cured at the factory.

Would definately be open to other suggestions to stop the heat soak.

Apparently this was a common problem on early Tuscans (had the problem on my 1st 01 tuscan) and from memory requires a heat sink to be fitted. Can't imagine it's a big job, suggest you call your TVR dealer who will be able to sort it for you

May be a stupid question, but what is a "heat sink"? i just replaced the cats to get the car approved for a Dutch registration and plan to use the car for the non-travelling daily use.

I thought i might even be able to make some phonecalls with the cats on, but i am affraid that the lever might get f*****g hot again.

any other solutions?

Hope this photo helps.

My gear stick is made in a heat insulating material (tuffnol in my case), and never gets hotter than the cabin temperature.

same with the handbrake, just sleeve it with nylon

Does anyone know where you can get replacement gear knobs from? Mine's looking a bit tatty and needs replacing.

Graham, is this stuff in your Sag manual?
My gearknob gets warm but my handbrake lever gets too hot to touch in this weather!

Gents - what is the sound deadening/heat reflective 'neoprene' foam material seen in Graham's photo's around the transmission tunnel (etc), and where to buy? The heat has caused mine to age and crumble.
