reducing the warm up procedure

I know you don't want to hear this, but it's there for a reason.........no shortcut to my knowledge, and probably not advisable to go against it given the oil pathway 'issues'.

A lot of work,weight and money for feck all gain, Remember you have to warm up the gearbox diff and tyres before using the loudpedal.

is it good to from start up to leave the car ticking over? as i have to wait for two electric gates to open before i can move

Apparently it is bad to leave it ticking over from cold - something to do with the oil not getting to all the places it should do. However, I hold mine at 1100-1700 rpm for a few seconds (it stalls otherwise anyway), then keep it at a steady idle for about a minute before driving off gently.

I do however find it better to not be too gentle with it after this... if I change up at 2k rpm then settle into a nice gentle 50mph top gear cruise, it can take ages for the oil to warm up. However, cruising at about 2k rpm and change up in the high 2000s and the oil reaches 50 degrees within about a mile. I think (hope) it's better this way than doing several gentle miles with oil at 15 degrees.
