Hello All
Love the forum and have been reading it for months as I have been considering buying a Tuscan for a long time.
I would really appreciate current owners input and advice.
I know that the engines can suffer reliability issues etc, so would only consider buying one which has already been rebuilt by a reputable company. Do these rebuilds completely solve all the 'issues' which were experienced previously?
Also, I would need to park my car on the street, as I live in London and don't have a drive or garage - is this advisable? How resiliant is the bodywork and paint to everyday life in London?
I really love these cars, but don't want to have to buy a new house to get one!

I would hate to leave my Tuscan on the street. I am paranoid just to leave the car on any car park, fear people may scratch her or bumped into her. Not being funny, I too live in London and I moved from a flat to a house with a garage (hence further to work), so that I can buy myself a TVR.
Welcome. It appears that the reputable company rebuilds etc, do eliminate the “issues” and you get decent warranties now.
As for leaving it outside all the time, personally I would not. Ok every now and again. The bodywork etc will be fine, its just the repeated being rained on that can get into some of the electrics etc that can cause gremlins to appear!
I guess if you use it most days, your less likely to have troubles.
I am sure there are some on here who leave there Tuscans outside all the time.
Warning though, if you do buy one, your life will never be the same, they are very much like the ultimate Love affair!

I would second that. My house purchase fell through, and we were only buying for the garage. I had to have over a grands worth of body work done as someone decided to reverse over me in their Chelsea tractor.
However if you can get a good cover and some off street parking, I would reccomend a Tuscan. I have never looked back. Mine has had the the top end re-buildm but low millage and came with a garage 12 months waranty. If you in London, head down to Racing Green TVR just off the M3 or a short walk from the train station which heads into Waterloo.

I guess I will have to put off buying the car until I have one. I know that I would constanly worry about the car otherwise.

What are people's thoughts on engine transplants in the Tuscan. They are rarer than in the Cerbera, but there are some people doing this now.
If I eventually buy a cheap Tuscan which needs a rebuild, I could have the option of a £6k rebuild, or a similar price transplant from a Chevy...has anyone considered this before?

Beside the electric issue, you will find some discussions about water ingress too if the car sits in the rain all the time. With regards to the engine, many fellow Tuscan owners will tell you that it is all depended on how the engines been looked after. I have recently started up a topic called break down, and it is amazing how positive of the feed back from the owners.
I tend to agree with the other posts, I keep my Tuscan garaged and it only comes out when the sun's shining so it's had plenty of use recently

I think I have figured it out at last!!!
I have a retired relative who lives nearby and has an empty garage...they also are at home ALL the time, so the car is very safe.
I can sell my current car and buy something very boring and cheap to run - possibly a Citroen C2 diesel. They have free road tax, free parking permits and even give a million miles to a gallon! They cost next to nothing to insure as well.
Then I will buy my dream Tuscan S and keep it in the garage at my relatives. Will have full access on the weekends etc and it will be even more fantastic after driving my crappy citroen all week. I will also benefit from having her insured as a second (classic) car and so this should cost less than £400. Given that the road tax on the Tuscan is only £185 this new arrangement could actually cost me less than simply running my current Civic type-r! my total road tax bill will only be £185 (instead of £240) and my total insurance for both cars will be approx £600 - it is currently £500 anyway. Plus the more economical car will save me loads in day to day driving i.e. going to ASDA and the gym etc. I can use the Tuscan for pure enjoyment.
I just wanted to share with eveyone! Sorry to bore you all - I'm just pretty excitable.
