Rebuild after crash!!!! ( just in time for summer )

Typical. Just finished a couple of niggley jobs last October with my youngest son, we decided to take her for her last run before putting away for the winter... Then the rain came down. Skid, Bang, Wallop!! Im in the bloody railings!... Gutted!

Now I've just spent the last 6 weekends repairing my P&J. Repairs done include:

Steering Rack
Passenger side front corner (supplied by T.E.T Mouldings)
Front Grill (supplied by Fibreon)
Wheels (Bought set of 4 second-hand spiders)
Headlight and Sidelight
Hinged Main Bonnet

May I ask, how you fixed your numberplate to the new front end supplied by fibreron?

I have a new front end to go on but am reluctant to drill through the plate and into the number plate holder supplied by fibreron? any other way round it?

As I said, back end was smashed up as well and the total cost was too high.

I firstly warmed up the plate with a hotair gun then fixed it with the black double
sided adhiesive tape held in place with masking tape until it cooled

Nice one!! Did you do the hinged bonnet yourself?

Yes, it took me two days to fit the grill and hinge the bonnet. I made the hinges and brackets myself.

Can you give us some hints on the hinges? Some photos would be great! On my to do list...which is growing by the day and i have only had the car a week!!

the hinges were made from a length of 40mm x 8mm flatbar for the bonnet .Which was cut
bent and welded then fixed into place using fibreglass, the otherside of the hinges are made from 50 x 50mm angle iron and bolted onto the existing front mounting points, I havent got any clear photos unfortunatley but will post them to see if they help

I am very fortunate as I have access to a fully fitted out working garage and also engineering workshop which I used when I rebuilt the engine but thats another story

The MK2/R grille looks so much better on these. MK1 with MK2 grille is the best looking Tuscan by far!

I got the pepperpot replacement from fibreon www.damagedtvrs.co.uk £250.00 it comes in two parts,
the first job after removing the original panel is to mark carefully where the new lower panel is going to sit then clean away all existing paintwork ready for the fibreglass paste to bond the parts together, I also used a couple of self tappers to help hold everything in place until its cured, once fixed I took the tvr badge off the service bonnet to use the holes for a temporary fixing for the number plate panel which I fixed in the same way. Then it was filled and painted with 3 coats of etch primer 2 coats of primer 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear laquer

Don't own a TVR unfortunatly mate, maybe one day in the future
