cannot close boot
Discussion
Hello
This morning, for a reason I cannot understand, the boot locking system doesn't work. I can hear the mettalic part of the boot almost getting in the lock but "it doesn't catch it". Any idea on the reason and way to solve it? The lock it self work, as well as the Tuscan electric switch. Thanks for help and sorry for poor details, typing this on my phone, away...
now that I have computer, let me explain you more the problem:
When I close my boot, I can hear the metallic pin for the boot touching the lock and moving a bit the "claw" of the lock, but it's like it doesn't go deep enough, and the boot fiberglass is already in contact with the lower part of the boot.
The lock itself seem to be working fine, when I use my finger instead of the metallic pin, or the "tuscan" electric switch.
Has nayone got this issue? I have no idea how this happened, it just was like that one morning. I just dont understand. Any clue? thank you

The pin attached to the top section of the boot cann get knocked and be very slightly bent inwards. If this happens, as may be the case, apply a bit of pressure to it to bend it back to straight and try and close. Failing that if you've overloaded the boot then the rear hinges may have been moved a bit, this would leave a shortfall in the travel and angel of the pin in to the mechanism. Good luck.
thank you very much, I will check all that tonight.
I had another discussion with a mate who read my question here (;)) and we though the boot mecanisme might have come lower (it would have the exact same result and feeling). I will check the bolts tonight. Have this already happened to one of you guys?

Hi Everyone,
I checked everything y'day, and I am ashamed to say I still cannot understand what is going on, and I have no idea how to solve this. I might have to go to a tvr specialist for him to have a look....
Any place close to W2 you would recommend? I am not super keen on doing 200 miles to TVR Power for that :S.
Thank you very much

I HAVE A FAVOUR TO ASK
could any one of you post pictures of their boot locking mecanism (the top part on the boot and how it is bolted to boot, and the lower part of the mecanism) to see what is wrong on mine. I d like to compare your pics and how it is on mine, cuz I do not understand..... thanks a lot

Go to www.tvr-centre.co.uk in Barnet. They know their stuff and I can highly recommend them.I checked everything y'day, and I am ashamed to say I still cannot understand what is going on, and I have no idea how to solve this. I might have to go to a tvr specialist for him to have a look....

Looks like we're neighbours - I just bought a Tuscan (2001 model) as well. Its still with the seller, but hope to have it later this week.
If I do get it, you are most welcome to pop around and take a look at how the mechanism works. Email me..
Is your Tuscan the grey one thats parked on Westbourne Park Villas??

PROBLEM SOLVED
Thanks a lot for all your advices guys. The solution was a mix of everything. The metalic pin on the top part of the boot was inclined towards the left. The angle was almost imperceptible, seriously. I unscrewed it, and re-screwed it making sure it is perfectly vertical (again, almost imperceptible difference) and it worked.
Hope this will help the next one who'll get that issue.
Cheers
