Hi guys,

I use my cig lighter to trickle charge the car and it seems to have stopped working. At first I thought it was my solar panal but my tomtom also didnt like the cig lighter socket. Could I have blown a fuse with the trickle charge?

Take off centre panel (screw at rear under rear air vent) check all connections on lighter.

Did mine this week as the bottom connection of the cig lighter had come out - job done.

Not being funny, have you checked the fuse in the driver's foot well. Mine didn't work and it turned out to be the blown fuse.

You can just pull the ashtray out and you should be able to see the bottom of the lighter housing, or at least feel it if the wire has come off.

right removed the centre console (wasnt bolted in anyway) all the wires are fine so will check the fuse tomorrow. Are they labled at all or can someone point me in the direction of the right fuse?

out of interest where did that diagram come from as its a little different to my set up. The fuse below the one with the arrow (for the door ecu) has a blank fuse in it other than that all the others are fine

Right replaced the fuse and checked that there was power going to the socket. However as soon as I plug something into the socket the fuse blows. Any ideas?

I have this problem itermittently. Will blow a fuse after a few hours of use (FM transmitter for an iPod). Change the fuse and it's fine again for a few hours of use.

Any suggestions?

Fit a new lighter save all the tossing about, mine did this twice on the way to Alton Towers on Monday. First time I was down to 5 litres of arab juice with no way into the boot!. Had to google which fuse to change, swap it with another off the board so I could get in the boot for the spares.

Should be a 20A but fuses blow for a reason, a new lighter is £5 delivered off flea bay.
