When sat in traffic im getting an exhaust/petrol odor in the car and its driving the mrs crazy. I can smell it and my nose is pretty crap! While driving above a few mph its fine but after 10 seconds of being stopped its there and slowly gets worse.

I had it in the garage the other day and checked it all over, petrol lines look good, no leaks, did the filter a couple of weeks ago so that had a really good check over and there were no leaks, also checked the carbon pot thing in the front wing and it didnt small.

Could it be throttle balance, i might be able to link this to my feeling its down on power.

I've not put any fuel in for a couple of weeks, has around 20 litres in at the moment so its not that, its also getting a slight vacuum in the tank as it should.

I did check that while the car was in the garage, it had been idling for a good 15 mins and engine/oil temp was up to normal, it didn't smell inside the front wing so im pressuming its not that. Is there any other way to check it? Just to add i had the main garage door shut with the small pedestrian door open so it was pretty confined and there was no major smell of fuel or exhaust

This morning i drove about 3 miles, oil temp around 30 water around 70, stopped and it was not there then after about 15 seconds it came. Seems to take longer if the windows are up (drivers side open about 1") so i presume its not coming directly through via the cabin.

Going to take it out later with the laptop connected to watch the afr's, every thing is fine in the garage but might not be while driving i suppose.

Chris,

Try the roll over saftey valve and its connections for leaks

Its behind the passenger side B post carpet on T350 & Sag.

The roll over safety valve is on top of the fuel tank on the Tuscan.

I hope for your sake you don't make a habit of doing this? A sure fire way to prematurely knacker the engine! Same for all engines, but especially important on a Speed 6.

Mine always smells of exhaust/petrol fumes when stopped in traffic despite no leaks anywhere. I think it's down to the fact that the air intake (inside front left wing) is low down so it picks up exhaust fumes from surrounding vehicles as well your own.

I've been trying to figure out a way of relocating the intake position but so far not found any suitable locations. Anyone got any ideas?
