Thinking of a Tuscan; a couple of questions...

Hi All,

Now, this Mk 2 looks "cheap" to me: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1048615.htm

I'm very tempted to get back into TVR ownership after a couple of years in Pork world.

I've a couple of questions:

- What components / bits are impossible or really hard to get hold of if they break?
- I'm guessing I'd need to factor a rebuild in for this car in the next year or so, despite post 2004 cars having tweaks to harden the followers?
- Why would it have needed a new flywheel?
- Does anyone know the car?

As far as I know, all parts are fairly easy to acquire, although i think side door windows are poss limited?
Later SP 6 less likely to implode, as with all these cars though, if its been well looked after, then so long as this continues should be fine. Slush fund is a good idea though!
New flywheel, poss, lighter version fitted as “upgrade” with the clutch, or poss ring gear damage.
No, don’t know the car, looks V nice though, good price too.

Don't know the car but it has changed ownership twice in the last year so have a close look at the history and warranty (TVR Hexam knows the first owner, could give them a call).

As above, I don't think there's much you can't get now.

You might need a rebuild, then again you might not. There are cars with higher mileages than that which haven't needed it, but probably not that many - so buying with the idea that you may need another 7k in the next 24 months is a safe strategy.

An early MK2 but looks very nice. If it's been maintained by Hexham which it appears it will have , then that's a good recommendation. It's very good value for an 'S' and you would be very unlucky to get a "bad" engine of that age and mileage. New clutch is to be expected with that mileage and not unusual.... I'd say buy it....check it underneath..leaking shocks and general state of chassis..but at that age it should be nearly perfect if its been looked after.

Really ? According to the sellers profile he's owned it at least 2 years or more.

Ask if the 'accessories' in his profile pic are included ! That would swing the deal for me.....

Looks a nice colour combo and good price (depending on service history etc...)

I've met James as few times at TVRCC NE meetings - nice guy. Car appears to be a good one although I dont know anything other than seeing and hearing it in the car park/on runs. When we spoke he said he was only selling it for funds for his business...if that is the case then it's not because there are any problems with the car...

Good price too looking at the prices of others...

Look's like a great example of an early Tuscan 2, most unlikely anything will break on it, build quality is on a par with the German stuff, my old T2 Targa is for sale at the moment pm me if you need any info!

I've seen it advertised on PH twice, once by it's owner and later by a dealer. Better check with the owner then (and Hexam). Apologies if I'm mistaken.

Its been up for sale before...last year...but obviously didnt sell. The last time I saw the car was on a TVRCC run out to Hawick for a BBQ with some of the Scottish clan. It was probably in Hexham Horseless Carriages being sold on the customers behlaf maybe...?

From what Ive seen of the car you could do alot worse...I like the colour and interior / exterior combo as well...

If it floats your boat then its worth a look.
