Whilst changing gear yesterday I noticed that it is possible to lift the whole gear lever out of its socket from where it mates with the gear box. I managed to put it back in again without any problems any it still changes gear OK.

Does anyone know what secures it in place and can this be done from the cabin.

Im supposeed to be off to Le Mans tomorrow and dont wont to be stuck in France without gears.

Easy to repair:
Take of big surround leather, 2 or 4 Screws, one under ash bottle
one under rear air outlet, then 1´or 2 inside hexagon socket
screws hand brake lever and 1 counter screw under shift knob.
Then take of textil cover with leather surround from shifter
and hand brake.
Then you have to dismount the plastic cover(Rubber around shifter)
the shifter is secured with one inside hexagon socket at side bottom.

All easy to manage but you need correct tool for inside hexagon screw
Size 3or4 i think and you have to glue the rubber when you remount otherwise the heat soaks up and you shifter will get very hot

Hope this helps, sorry for my bad english

Best wishes from Germany
