Post Le-Mans repairs
Discussion
Following getting back from Le-mans there are a few bits of TLC to be administered to my Tuscan.
1. I had a flat battery there so needed to get into the boot. Following getting in 'the special way' the catch is no longer keeping the boot shut. I had to tape the boot down to drive back.
Has anyone else suffered this following getting into the boot with the battery flat? Is there an easy remedy? it looks to me like the catch in the boot is not moving over far enough to lock the pin.
2. Somehow the rubber that fits into the roof panel that the window shuuts up to to creat a seal has come out and is flapping around a lot. I tried to push it beack in but struggled when in Le-mans (hangovers and repairs just don't go together) I'm guessing re-seating this rubber will be easier with the roof removed, has anyone else had trouble with this? or re-seated theirs?
Apart from that didn't have any other troubles!

Had a few 'issues'with the Tuscan myself. Overheated about 50 miles from Le Mans. Went a very off piste route in order to get some 'spirited' driving in. Got lost through a reasonalby large town which resulted in sitting in traffic for about 30 mins. Fans seemed to be doing their job but all of a sudden the temp went from 92 right up to 115! Steam from the bonnet meant a call to TVR Power and we decided to whip off the bonnet and check hoses, bleed radiator and top up fluids again.
Prior to bleeding we managed to get 3 litres of water in! Worrying seeing as it had just been serviced about 150 miles ago and water checked before we left. Long story short we got to Le Mans found a local UK breakdown company contracted to the RAC - Brit Assist (britassist.com) great chaps really sorted us out. Full presure and block test revealed no probs but the fans wouldn't kick in. Disconected the sensor and drove all the way back with the fans on, no probs at all - oh other than not being able to start after getting petrol which was resolved after 20 mins I think due to a hot alternator.
Have to say the Tuscan attracted people like flies round the proverbial! Evrywhere we went people would come over to look and take pics!

To be honest no problems either other than whats listed above.
And the flat battery was due to the Party outside our markee (tent) in the TL site on Sunday night. Played the stereo until battery died. I didn't think it would be a problem as had the anderson jump leads in the tent, that was they were in the tent until someone packed them into my boot prior to the jump start errr oopps!

Don't bother trying to force it back in - you will only damage the rubber or paintwork.Easier to just pull the rubber out (with roof off), then slide it back into the grooves using plenty of washing up liquid as lubricant. This will allow you to stretch and slide the rubber to achieve a perfect water tight seal, and the liquid will dry out in a day or two to help 'glue' it in place (but still easy to remove if you need to do it again in future)
Whilst fixing the above mentioned bits and cleaning her yesterday have found another problem:
My passenger side exhaust has split and I need to know whether it can be welded?
It has cracked where the pipe comes out of the back box. So 4" further down from where my CCC bolts on to the pipe, right where it actually joins/ comes out of the back box. The crack goes about 3/4 of the way round and is sufficient enough for the exhaust to move about but is just about hanging on.
1. Can this part be welded or do I need to buy a new back section?
2. If it can be welded can anybody recommend somewhere in Surrey area I can call?

1. Yes. Cheap & easy job - seems fairly common to crack at that point (from weight of rear cans I guess).
2. Don't know anyone in that area, but most small garages or welders should be capable enough (although I would be tempted to remove the back box and just take that part in rather than leave the car with them) !!!
Tell them its just some cheap kit car ....
