What oil temp does your can reach ?

Hi All,
Just wondered what oil temp your cars are currently reaching ??? My Tuscan normal seats around the high 60's but recently has been as high a 88 degrees! . Just wondering if I should be concerned or not

88oC is fine, as far as i know its when it gets to 100oC is when you need to switch off the engine and shout for help!

Mine sits at anything between 75 adn 85 on a run at this time of year.

When mine gets really really hot - like in standing traffic for a long period - my oil temp will get to around 90C.

Motorway driving it rarely gets above 70C.

Round town around 70 - 80C...

Manual for my car states that if the oil hits 110 then keep the revs below 5000 until it has cooled sufficiently.

usually 80 something, but has reached 89 when i am stuck in traffic in Central London on a hot day.

Oh I think it depends what kind of oil you use.

In our dyno cells we control the oil temperature to 110°C on Performance tests and 125°C on Durability tests (on these tests the oil is changed every 100 hours).

This is on boggo 5w30 oil, and this is good for approx. 145°C before it starts to lose it's protective qualities.

Don't worry about an occasional 100°, it just looks worrying because the normal range is 70-90.
