Yes louder than standard with cccs hard to tell with original factory end cans. Personally I think my Tuscan sounded a little bit better with standard cats and cccs. It's louder now but a bit harsher. Much less harsh than it was with no cats thank goodness. Dom achieved same power with 200 cell cats (standard are 400 cell) as he did with decats which was about 20 more bhp on the tvr power rolling road. Torque was up slightly over decats and no worries at mot time. In truth it's quite hard to notice the extra power without a back to back drive with a standard car. But that's because the standard car is no slouch.

I've had sports cats on my other cars - definately louder but no where near as loud as de-cats.

By choice I would run with sports cats as I think the engine is 'happier' - but they are expensive.

I have run on 100 cell cats before which is the best of everything really but not certain if TVR would pass MOT on them (my vx220 scrapped through)

Is it worth the extra expence for the gains in sound?

For sound alone no, but for the bhp gains once remapped on a rolling road, yes.
