Play in Steering

I have a fair bit of play in my steering which is most noticable at speed. My mechanic has tightened the preloader which has improved things but I am still not comfortable with it. Is there anything else anyone can suggest I look at before I get the steering rack out and get it reconditioned?

is the tracking as good as it can be? This will accentuate any issues in feeling light at speed or general 'planted' feelings.

Yes the tracking has just been done and Nitrons fitted.
