Are Tuscans selling at the moment?

I'm curious as to what the market for Tuscans is like at the moment. Mine has been up for sale for a couple of weeks now, and I've not exactly been rushed off my feet with enquiries.

I've noticed quite a few new ads for other Tuscans going up too recently, so plenty of people are selling, but are there many buyers out there at the moment?

I cant comment on if they are selling but from when i bought mine in November i would say the cheaper ones have gone up in price from what they were then.

The price of sports cars will always fluctuate with the season.

buy in winter and sell in summer would be my recommendation.

Maybe because one buys a MK2 convertible with less than half your mileage for less than your asking price?

Buy in cash and don't sell during recession would be my recommendation.

Any serious buyer will obviously try you out, and you can only withstand if all sellers withstand.

And during times like these, sellers tend to bend. So it's a buyers market.

PS : I also wouldn't shout off the roofs that you spent 12k on it during a single year! That's the price of an early MK1 by itself! It obviously shows your dedication, but also that your car seems quite greedy in upkeeping costs...

PS2 : else from that, I really like your Tuscan. It's one of the meanest I've ever seen. Love the "Prada" finish with the red bits

It does not help Ed you mentioning your rebuild and warranty problems when it went bang again not long after the first rebuild.

I don't believe hanging the laundry out on PH is a good idea long term considering most folk who are in the market for a TVR get on here.

Nice car though and probably well sorted know.

I don't think the asking price is way off - there is only 1 Mk I "S" at a lower price than mine, and that's a year older. Any Mk II Tuscans around that price range are not the S.

I don't see how mentioning how I've spent money on it can be a bad thing. Everything that can be an issue has been sorted in pretty much one go (warranted engine rebuild, clutch, brakes and suspension), so it shouldn't need anything doing to it for the foreseeable future other than filling up with fuel every 250 miles

FOr what it's worth I wouldn't be put off by your level of detail - I'd expect nothing less from a genuine owner. Anyone who is scared by your bad luck and expense isn't a serious Tuscan buyer in the first place in my view - we all know the territory we're in!

It does however look a lot of money for a Mk1 at first glance. Not a judgement, just an observation

Hi Brian, yeah still me! And yeah, I'll finally pick up mine next week! I'll PM you when I will have managed to get it all the way to Switzerland ; doesn't really make sense blocking a date before - God knows all that can happen on a 1'000+ km trip

Ed i bought a Tuscan at the end of April & if anything if they were sensible price & good condition the buggers were selling before i could get there. I was arranging to go within 2 days of the advert. Anyway got a nice one now (Thanks Jim)2002 MK1 £16.5K you could eat your dinner off the Chassis how much are you asking ?

That's one logical approach! But you will miss the 2009 summer. Logic is never good advice in relation to TVR.

Where did you get 23.9 from? Mine's only 3k more than the 2001 car, which is a reasonable premium (I think) for a car that's 2 years younger, and has been rebuilt recently.
