Sorry if this is a repost, but spotted it this morning and thought it might be of interest to some of you?

Hi,

Looks good, and am considering bidding. Never owned a TVR before (been a long dream though), and am a bit of a novice.

So what's up with it being VCAR? I guess you can still get an MOT / TAX / Insurance without hassle?

Thanks in advance.

Be wary if i were you there was a mass thread on this before. Maybe fine but from just from looking at the advert the guy doesnt have a scooby doo. Apparently to the dealer it has:

"Body kit, Traction control, Heated screen (not sure if hes referring to the rear here), Climate Control, Heated door mirrors, Trip computer"

wobble

I would want to look at this one first before bidding...

Just being noisey I've asked if its a Cat c or d .... Still waiting for a reply!. I would only have a punt if its a Cat 'D', I would only pay £10,000. Remember that the roof is in black by the way so some may think its a little 'Max Power' when you come to sell!

Just my 2 pence worth!

How much is this little expedition costing mate? Who you using? Make sure you post some piccies...

I was thinking maybe have the centre part of the roof carbon fibre? Or is that a little bit Max Power too? I reckon it would look cool bandit

As it is a CAT-D my current insurer (Esure) won't touch it (not surprised I guess), guess I can shop around to get around the issues. Recommedations would be appreciated.

Also, I'm looking at this one on ebay -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Any knowledge would be v helpful (sorry if I'm changing the flavour of the post)...

Karlx,
I never said it was a Cat'D'. I have asked the question to the seller and haven't had a reply yet! (nearly 2days) .

Cheers

Karl. I would steer clear of this. Go to a reputable dealership where you will get the best advice, be able to see the essential history and receipts. It may look like a bargin, and I get tempted by them too, but you would kick yourself after spending the cash on this one, to find days later yoru new P&J develops a major fault costing more than the difference between this and a dealer.
You also don't knwo how many test pilots have driven this from cold at full RPM as the seller may not know the warm up proceedures.

Sorry for my lack of clarity re CAT'D - I should have said the white TVR is CAT'D (I called the garage). I'll avoid it, again thanks for the v advice

I have put a provisional offer in for this car (see link below).

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Again, if you know any details I would really appreciate the help. I went to see the car this evening - very nice looking, sounded great...

Thanks in advance.

Don't know anything about this but do remember it was up for sale at the end of last year when I was shopping round.
Not sure how much you know about Tivs but might suggest that you consider using some one like Rob Ingleby might soften the purchase gamble confused

If I was buying again I would absolutely use a specialist finder service - do this you will not regret it but you may regret buying a car with problems.

Karlx,
You need to find out the name of the specialist as the price his quoted seems a little cheap for one of the main TVR rebuilders ?

"Just received the car back from specialist performance mechanic who carried out rebuild, shimmed tappets, new oil pump, new water pump, hand brake cable, two new cats, service and mot at over £4500"

Also in one of the pics the car looks alot higher at the rear then it does at the front... Maybe just the way its sitting on the drive.

Are you looking else where apart from Ebay ??? I think your better off checking out Piston Heads for a Tuscan.

cheers

I posted about this car a few weeks back. Be wary, the car has had a full respray, and the dealer was less than informative when I enquired about its history. He couldnt give me its background, what its history was, any before and after information, service history. Just didnt seem at all interested.

Looks stunning, and certainly grabbed my attention, but I quickly walked away, given all of the above.

Have asked a few questions using dodgeit mail, anyone can access this email account by going to -

www.dodgeit.com

and entering the email address -

TVRMad@dodgeit.com

The questions -

1) Does the car have a full service history, and where was it serviced?
2) Does the car have a engine rebuild?
3) It says the car has ABS and traction control, is this a mistake since this was not available on that TVR Model?
4) The car is on a V-Car, what was the damage?
5) When was the car repainted?
