Want to make my own jumpleads, will this anderson plug work?

I've got a 2001 tuscan, a guy from the AA came to jump start it and had the proper anderson plug on a realy long lead. He told me he bought the plug on ebay for £3 and made the lead himself. I just want to know if anyone has done this? is it safe and will this anderson plug fit and work?
