Starter Motor

Hi all,

How easy is it to replace the starter motor on a Tuscan? Mine siezed at the weekend, works fine now after a long run, but I know from old cars that once they begin to clog, they only get worse. Also, is it a bespoke item or something off another car?

you can buy a recon one from TVR power.

£100 i think, fitting doesnt look hard, cant think it'd take more than a couple of hours.

I can tell you I paid 210 quid plus labour (not exactly sure how much though, as I had other things done as well...) for an upgraded 4.3 starter motor on my Mk 1 Tuscan S... Dont have the knowledge or the space/tools to do it myself unfortunately.

But you could get the part for around 150 or so.

what are the symptoms of this Start motor problem generally?

Well there is power from the battery, basically 9+ volts (it does get left standing more than I'd like) the ignition clicks a small turn of the motor followed by loads of clicks. Once it was running it was fine and had no problem after, but it started getting sticky before now so I think it could be time to replace it.

9 volts will struggle to turn the motor tom. Not got a trickle charger?
